In recent years,the phenomenon of bystanders’ moral indifference is not uncommon,which has become a serious obstacle to social moral construction and needs to be solved urgently.Among the middle school students,the phenomenon of bystanders’ moral indifference has also become prominent,which is harmful to the moral development of middle school students.However,in the existing research,the academic circle generally pays attention to the problem of social moral indifference,but only a few researches involve the phenomenon of moral indifference of middle school students as bystanders.It is urgent to further analyze the phenomenon of bystanders’ moral indifference in middle school students and explore its solutions.Hoffman’s theory of moral empathy focuses on the methods of moral empathy,development stages and its functions.It has a very enlightening significance for exploring the issue of moral indifference among middle school students bystanders from the emotional dimension.Based on Hoffman’s theory of moral empathy,this research attempts to analyze the main manifestations and emotional mechanisms of bystanders’ moral indifference among middle school students,and explore its solutions.This article mainly adopts the literature analysis and case analysis to explain the main points in Hoffman’s theory of moral empathy,and on this basis,analyzes the main manifestations of the moral indifference of the bystanders of middle school students,including selfishness,hesitation,follow the crowd blindly and add insult to injury.Based on the perspective of Hoffman’s theory of moral empathy,the emotional mechanism of bystanders’ moral indifference in middle school students is the lack of moral empathy.The causes are insufficient cognitive participation,insufficient moral empathy,poor response to excessive moral empathy,and empathy bias.In order to finally eliminate the phenomenon of bystanders’ moral indifference among middle school students,school moral education should adjust middle school students’ over-awakening and prejudice,guide middle school students’ imagination of moral situations,focus on models and other measures to enhance their moral motivation,strengthen their moral emotions,and guide their moral Judgment,and ultimately improve the level of moral empathy of middle school students.
