Research purposes: This thesis uses Ashtanga Yoga intervention for middle-aged women for 12 weeks to observe the changes of balance ability indicators before and after the experiment, and to explore the influence of Ashtanga Yoga exercises on middle-aged women balance ability. And this research can provide theoretical reference for guiding middle-aged women to take exercises scientifically,to help them keep healthy state and to prevent and delay the occurrence of falls.Research methods: From September 2020 to December 2020,middle-aged women between 50 and 55 years old in communities and senior activity centers near Weiyang District,Xi’an were recruited as research object. After screening,30 qualified candidates were selected and randomly divided into an experimental group(15 people)and a contrast group(15 people). The experimental group underwent Astanga Yoga intervention for a total of 12 weeks,3 classes per week, each class for about 60 minutes, including 5 minutes of meditation,10 minutes of warm-up,35 minutes of asana,10 minutes of rest;the contrast group did not apply any intervention to continue its original daily life. The balance ability of two groups of subjects was tested before and after the experiment. The static balance ability was tested by Free step foot pressure measurement system, including Sway(center of gravity shaking track length),Area(elliptical area),Delta X(X axis deviation),Delta Y(Y axis deviation);the dynamic balance ability was tested using closed-eye standing step, front step,standing-walk and BIODEX balance system.BIODEX balance system indicators included standing stability OSI(overall stability index),API(front-and-back direction stability index),MLI(left-right direction stability index)and fall risk. The data were processed by SPSS22.0 software, the results were expressed by mean number ±standard deviation, paired sample t test was used in group comparison, independent sample t test was used in inter-group comparison,P<0.05 showed significant difference,P<0.01 showed a very significant difference.Research results:1.Test results of foot pressure index: in the foot pressure test middle-aged women involved in Astanga yoga practice,Sway(center shake track long)total length in four action states(open feet, closed feet, open foot, closed foot)test, with very significant difference(P<0.01).The maximum closed space of the Area(elliptical area)was also significantly reduced in tests in all four action states, with very significant differences before and after statistics(P<0.01).Delta X(X-axis offset)the center of gravity offset in the left and right direction of the body has a very significant decrease in the open feet and open single foot, the very significant difference(P<0.01),the shaking distance of the center of gravity offset in the closed feet, the significant difference before and after(P<0.05).The offset distance in the closed single foot is reduced, but there is no significant difference(P>0.05).The open state is better than the closed state.Delta Y(Y axis offset)the shaking distance of the center of gravity of the body has a significant decrease in open feet and single foot state, very significant difference before statistics(P<0.01),significant decrease in closed eyes and feet, significant difference(P<0.05),and the foot state is better than the single foot state. The results of the indicators(P>0.05).2.The test results of stepping in the same place with eyes closed, front steps, and standing-walking indicators: in Astanga yoga practice middle-aged women involved in the same place with eyes closed experiment increased from 6.83±3.07 seconds to19.12±5.17 seconds, and there was a very significant difference before and after statistics(P<0.01).The front steps decreased from 11.52±4.33 cm to 4.72±3.42 cm,which showed significant difference before and after statistics(P<0.05).The standing-walking time decreased from 11.87±2.72 seconds to 4.83±4.19 seconds, and there was significant difference before and after statistics(P<0.05).The comparison of the three indicators in the contrast group before and after the experiment has no statistical difference(P>0.05).3.Test results of standing stability index: in Astanga yoga practice middle-aged women involved in the standing stability test, the OSI(Overall Stability Index)decreased from 0.83±0.25 to 0.68±0.45,with a very significant difference before and after statistics(P<0.01),The values of the API(front and rear stability index)and the MLI(left-right stability index)both decreased, varying statistically significantly before and after(P<0.05).In the single-foot state, the OSI(overall stability index)decreased from 2.27±0.58 to 1.64±0.62,with a significant difference before and after statistics(P<0.05).The values of the API(front and rear stability index)and the MLI(left and right stability index)were reduced, but had no significant difference(P>0.05).The results of the indicators(P>0.05).4.Test results of the risk of falls: in Astanga yoga practice middle-aged women involved in the BIODEX fall risk index decreased from 1.28±0.33 to 0.96±0.51 after Astanga yoga practice(P<0.01).The index in the contrast group after the experiment increases compared with the result before the experiment, but there was no significant difference(P>0.05).Research conclusions: 1.Ashtanga yoga practice can effectively enhance the static balance ability of middle-aged women in different standing states(both feet with eyes open, both feet with eyes closed, one foot with eyes open, and one foot with eyes closed).2.Ashtanga yoga practice can effectively improve the dynamic balance ability of middle-aged women in the state of stepping in the same place with closed eyes, the vestibular steps and the standing-walking.3.Ashtanga yoga practice can improve the body’s standing stability and effectively reduce the risk index of falls for middle-aged women.
