Postgraduate education is the highest level in the national education system.It shoulders the mission of cultivating senior talents for the country and plays an irreplaceable role in promoting the social and economic development of our country.Therefore,the topic of how to promote the graduate education in the direction needed by the country and society has been widely concerned.In the context of the continuous enrollment of academic master’s students in China,the pace of the number of graduate students is accelerating,and the imbalance between the number of graduate students and the quality of development is prominent.On the one hand,academic research talents themselves need to strengthen the cultivation of practical ability;on the other hand,a large number of academic graduates do not engage in scientific research but take up practical posts.Therefore,it is necessary to attach great importance to and effectively strengthen the practical teaching of academic master graduates.Practical teaching is an important link to cultivate the abilities of academic postgraduate students in all aspects,and also an important way to improve the quality of postgraduate training.Some scholars have studied the practical teaching of college students and professional degree postgraduates respectively,but there are few researches on the practical teaching of academic postgraduates.Based on the investigation of the current situation of practical teaching of academic master students,it is concluded that there are some dilemmas in the tutor,students,teaching,school and society,and the reasons for these dilemmas include lack of cognition of practical teaching,insufficient attention from various aspects,irregular organization of practical teaching and disconnection between the content and students.Therefore,this paper,starting from the connotation of practical teaching for academic postgraduates,clearly explains the important role of practical teaching.This paper explores the current achievements and main problems in the practical teaching of academic postgraduates,discusses the causes of the problems,and puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions based on the system theory,pragmatic education theory,constructivism theory and competency-based theory.From the perspective of the principles that should be followed in the practical teaching of academic postgraduates,it is necessary to follow the principles of student subjectivity,systematicness,pertinence and flexibility.From the perspective of improving the operational mechanism of practical teaching,colleges and universities should improve the organizational mechanism,supervision mechanism,assessment mechanism and guarantee mechanism of practical teaching.From the specific optimization path,we should pay more attention,optimize the content and methods of practical teaching,strengthen the cooperation between schools and enterprises,combine social forces,strengthen the construction of teachers,and strengthen the construction of practical teaching infrastructure.
