The Impact Of American Manufacturing Reshoring On Its Employment

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 at the end of 2019,the US economy has been hit hard,and the unemployment rate has hit a new high.The US government has been rolling out policies to speed up a new round of manufacturing repatriation and promote employment in the US market.Given the position of the US economy in the global economy,its policy spillover is prominent.Therefore,it is of practical and policy significance to deeply explore the impact of American manufacturing reshoring policy on employment.This paper focuses on how the us manufacturing reshoring policy promotes the US manufacturing job market in practice.At first,this paper adopts comparative method analyzes the typical American governments manufacturing policy content,and then by adopting the combination of theoretical and empirical methods,first to the manufacturing back to the employment mechanism of the influence of the theory analysis,and then build panel data model,using the double difference method is used to empirically American manufacturing reflux policy impact on their employment.The results show that:it is found that the return of manufacturing industry in the United States improves the employment rate of manufacturing industry to a certain extent,while the increase of manufacturing output value and the expansion of export trade also have a positive impact on the employment of manufacturing industry.Studies of the employment of the U.S.manufacturing return policy under the influence on the one hand,enriched the outbreak era of American manufacturing back new trend research,the academic circles study the problem of employment and manufacturing reflux has certain theoretical significance,on the other hand will help our country draw lessons from the experience of developed countries and adjust to American manufacturing extracting approach to China,It is of great practical significance for the stable development of China’s job market in the future to enable China to find an appropriate position and adjust its development ideas in the new round of industrial revolution and the reconstruction of global value chain.Chapter one is the introduction.This paper mainly expounds the background and significance of the research on the American manufacturing reshoring policy,and briefly introduces the research object,research content and research methods.On the basis of summarizing and analyzing the existing research results,the innovation points and shortcomings of this paper are put forward.Chapter two is a review of the existing research.It mainly includes three aspects: first,the motivation of the underemployment in the U.S.manufacturing industry;second,the possibility of the backflow effect in the U.S.manufacturing industry;third,the employment effect of the backflow policy in the U.S.manufacturing industry.On the basis of summarizing the existing research results,the paper gives the corresponding research trends and comments.Chapter three is a theoretical analysis of the impact of American manufacturing reshoring policy on employment.This chapter first defines and clarifies "manufacturing industry" and "manufacturing backflow".On this basis,the paper explores the theoretical mechanism of the impact of manufacturing backflow on employment in the United States.The core supporting theories are regional industrial transfer theory and product life cycle theory.Chapter four is typical facts of American manufacturing reflux.This paper first analyzes the typical background of the return of manufacturing in the US from four aspects:unbalanced economic structure,job market pressure,long-term trade deficit and the impact of COVID-19.Then,based on the historical sequence,it analyzes the typical contents of manufacturing policies of successive US governments since the 2008 financial crisis.From these typical facts,we can see the real intention and characteristics of the change of the us backflow policy,as well as its possible impact on the US job market.Chapter five is the impact and empirical analysis of American manufacturing backflow on employment.This part first analyzes the influence mechanism of "return employment effect".This is mainly manifested in the upgrading of manufacturing structure,foreign direct investment,economic development level and foreign trade.On the basis of the influencing mechanism,this paper empirically tests the influence of manufacturing backflow on American manufacturing employment by using differential difference method,and observes how the American manufacturing backflow promotes the American manufacturing employment market in practice.Chapter six is the policy enlightenment of the impact of American manufacturing backflow on employment.This chapter first analyzes the policy experience,lessons and new development trends of the impact of manufacturing backflow on employment in the United States,then analyzes the development status of China’s manufacturing industry and manufacturing employment,and then gives some policy enlightenment to China’s manufacturing employment market in combination with the planning of China’s manufacturing transformation and upgrading.Chapter seven is conclusion and policy suggestion.This part summarizes the conclusions of the research topic and gives corresponding policy suggestions for China.
