Learning engagement is an emotional cognitive state produced by students in the learning process,which can reflect the learning effect and learning quality of students from the side,and has an important impact on individual academic development.This study mainly explores the relationship between parenting style,self-esteem,sense of meaning in life and learning engagement,in order to provide more educational suggestions for improving the learning engagement of high school students.In this study,716 high school students were selected as the research subjects,and the "Short-Egna Minnen av Barndoms Uppfostran","Self-Esteem Scale","The Meaning In Life Scale" and "Learning Engagement Scale" were distributed in class units and the data analysis was carried out,and the results of the study are as follows:1.The overall score of high school students’ learning engagement level is higher,and the score of dedication dimension is higher than that of focus and vitality.There are significant differences in grade level and parental education level.2.The emotional warmth score of parents in the parenting style of high school students is higher than that of the over-protection and rejection dimension,and there are significant differences in gender,grade,only child,family structure and parental education level.3.High school students have higher overall scores of self-esteem levels,and there are significant differences in the educational level of their parents.4.The overall score of high school students’ sense of meaning in life is higher,and the score of seeking meaning is higher than that of the existence of meaning dimension.5.Parents’ emotional warmth is significantly positively correlated with self-esteem,sense of meaning of life,and learning engagement;parental rejection and over-protectiveness are significantly negatively correlated with self-esteem,sense of meaning of life,and investment in learning;self-esteem is significantly positively correlated with sense of meaning of life and investment in learning;and sense of meaning of life is significantly positively correlated with investment in learning.6.Self-esteem and sense of meaning in life play a part of the mediating role between parental emotional warmth and learning engagement;self-esteem and sense of meaning in life play a full mediator between parental over-protectiveness,parental rejection,and learning engagement.Conclusion: Parents’ emotional warmth can not only predict learning engagement directly,but also indirectly predict learning engagement through self-esteem and sense of meaning in life;parental rejection and excessive protection of parents can not directly predict learning engagement,but can predict learning engagement through the mediation of self-esteem and sense of meaning in life.Based on the above research results,this study starts from the perspective of changing the parenting style of parenting,creating a good family atmosphere for students,guiding students to evaluate themselves positively and improving students’ sense of meaning in life,in order to provide effective suggestions for family education and school education,reduce learning burnout,and improve the level of learning engagement of high school students.
