| With the economic globalization and production internationalization,intermediate goods trade has become the key component of import and export trade of various countries.Among them,intermediate goods import trade is a major support for China’s economic development at present,and China is also continuing to implement active import expansion policy orientation.Also,the low-cost export advantage brought by China’s demographic dividend is gradually disappearing,and there is a prominent imbalance in employment structure between industries.The relative surplus of ordinary labor is gradually intensified.The import trade of intermediate goods promotes the innovation and competition strength of enterprises and even the country through technology spillover and other effects,while the optimization of employment skill structure can effectively promote the healthy development of various industries in the country.This paper studies the impact of imported intermediate goods on the employment skill structure of China’s manufacturing industry from a new perspective.Based on Voigtlander’s（2013）model,the functional logic and positive correlation between the quality of imported intermediate goods and employment structure is obtained,and the influence of technology spillover effect,factor substitution effect and competition strengthening effect is further demonstrated.Meanwhile,by matching national and international industrial statistical calibre,the regression analysis of import trade and employment data of manufacturing industries from 2013 to 2017 is conducted.The empirical results show that there is a positive correlation between the quality of imported intermediate goods and employment structure.The comparative analysis method is used to substitute the employment structure with high-skilled and low-skilled employed labor force,and the difference is studied based on the technological level of manufacturing industry and the developed level of import source.The results show that the imported intermediate goods’ quality has a different impact on the employment structure,and the positive impact is more significant in low-skilled sectors,and the quality of imported intermediate goods from underdeveloped areas has a more significant impact on the employment structure.This paper take out some policy advices such as improving the quality of imported intermediate products,guiding high-quality capital investment,enhancing r＆d investment,and expanding the international market of imported intermediate products. |
