| In recent years,with the rapid development of modern society and economy,the fast-paced life mode has broken our original plans.With the ensuing sense of pressure and helplessness,more and more people choose to postpone or evade tasks,resulting in a sharp rise in procrastination.Long-term procrastination will produce negative emotions and hinder the healthy growth of college students.Based on previous studies on procrastination,a large number of scholars regard it as the result of maladaptive behavior of individuals,which will harm the mental health of individuals.With the emergence of positive psychology,researchers began to pay attention to the positive qualities of procrastination.Chu and Choi(2005)first proposed the concept of active procrastination,which enriched the research scope of procrastination.There are essential cognitive differences between active procrastinators and passive procrastinators.Compared with passive procrastinators,active procrastinators pursue challenges,are good at regulating negative emotions,and tend to stimulate individual potential under time pressure to ensure efficient completion of tasks.Confusion between the two characteristics will affect the intervention effect of procrastination.Therefore,it is helpful to effectively distinguish the types of procrastination and explore the factors affecting procrastination.In this study,741 undergraduates and postgraduates from a university in Liaoning Province were selected as the research objects.The general Procrastination Scale(GPS),Active Procrastination Scale(NAPS),self-identity Scale(SIS),Self-esteem Scale(SES)and resilience Scale(RSCA)were used as measuring tools.The purpose is to explore the relationship between self-identity and different types of procrastination among college students.The chain mediating effects of self-esteem and resilience on self-identity and different types of procrastination.In this study,SPSS25.0 was used to analyze and process the data,and the following conclusions were drawn :(1)college students who procrastinate accounted for 91.23% of the total number of the survey,among which,those who procrastinate actively accounted for40.08% and those who procrastinate passively accounted for 51.15%.The number of passive procrastinators is slightly higher than the number of active procrastinators.(2)There is no significant difference in demographic variables between different types of procrastination.(3)The higher the degree of active procrastination,the better the development of self-identity,the stronger the self-esteem,the higher the level of psychological resilience;The higher the degree of passive procrastination,the worse the development of self-identity,the weaker the self-esteem,the lower the level of psychological resilience.(4)Self-identity positively predicts different types of procrastination.(5)Self-esteem and resilience play a chain mediating role between self-identity and active procrastination.(6)Self-esteem and resilience do not play a chain mediating role between self-identity and passive procrastination.This study based on the identity and the relationship between college students’ different types of delay analysis found that enhance the identity of college students can help them form positive attitude,and formed a high level of self-esteem,in such a case,individuals more confident when faced with a difficult task,showed higher mental toughness,thus avoid delay cause harm. |
