| In junior high school,students are in a critical period of rapid physical and mental development.They are faced with two important tasks: rapid changes in body and mind and higher learning goals.Parents have a high level of interest in their children’s academic achievement,as well as a high level of involvement and investment in their children’s education.But do these involvement and investments contribute to junior high school academic achievement? Assuming yes,what is the internal influence mechanism? This paper studies the influence of parental involvement on junior high school students’ academic achievement and its influencing mechanism,mainly discusses the following four issues :(1)the current situation of junior high school students’ parental involvement in education;(2)Under the condition of controlling demographic factors(gender,age),whether parental education involvement,learning investment and parent-child relationship have significant influence on the academic achievement of junior high school students;(3)Whether parental education involvement can indirectly influence the academic achievement of junior high school students through learning investment;(4)Whether parent-child relationship plays a moderating role in the influence of parental educational involvement on learning engagement.Objective: To investigate the influence of parental educational involvement on academic achievement of junior middle school students,and to explore the role of parent-child relationship and learning engagement in the influence of parental educational involvement on academic achievement.METHODS: Parent Education Involvement Scale,Academic Achievement Scale,Family Adaptation and Affiliation Evaluation Scale,and Learning Involvement Scale were used in this study.A total of 1086 junior high school students in Yongzhou and Shaoyang were conveniently selected for questionnaire survey.The data were analyzed and processed by SPSS20.0 software.Results:(1)The overall level of parental education involvement of junior high school students is below the middle level.There was no significant difference between the sexes.There are significant differences in grade,place of origin and educational level of parents.(2)Parent-child relationship and learning engagement of junior middle school students have significant differences in demographic variables.The overall level of parent-child relationship of junior high school students is better,and there is a significant difference in gender.In terms of father affinity of junior high school students,boys are greater than girls,and in terms of mother affinity of junior high school students,girls are greater than boys.(3)Parental education involvement,parent-child relationship,learning engagement and academic achievement of junior high school students have significant pair correlation.(4)Learning engagement plays a partial mediating role between parental educational involvement and academic achievement of junior high school students.(5)Parent-child relationship moderates the first half of the path of "parental education involvement → learning engagement → academic achievement of junior high school students".In other words,the better the parent-child relationship is,the greater the influence of parental education involvement on learning investment is.Conclusion: Parental education involvement can enhance the learning involvement of junior high school students,and thus have a positive impact on their academic achievement.Parent-child relationship moderates "the influence of parental education involvement on the learning engagement of junior high school students". |
