Research On The Challenges And Development Strategies Of Comprehensive Universities Under The Background Of Higher Education Popularization

Promoting the connotative development of comprehensive universities is not only an important measure to enhance the comprehensive strength of the country,but also a key link to improve the soft power of national innovation.In 2019,China’s higher education officially entered the stage of popularization with the gross enrollment rate of 51.6%,which is the inevitable trend of higher education to achieve a breakthrough development,but also a rational choice to respond to the changing times.In this context,comprehensive universities will inevitably face many challenges,such as balanced development of quality and quantity,school-running system,development form,informatization construction level,lifetime system construction scale,opening to the outside world and characteristic development.In order to realize the modernization,innovation and high quality development of comprehensive university,it is urgent to change in response to the situation.This study takes comprehensive universities under the background of universalization of higher education as the research object,using literature analysis,historical study and comparative research,based on the analysis of universities in the special status and role in the development of society and on the basis of combing the basic features of higher education became popular,mainly focus on the horizon,universalization universities face the challenges,And try to put forward targeted development strategy.This study mainly consists of the following important parts:The first part is introduction.The reasons,theoretical basis,research significance and research methods of the topic are elaborated respectively.On the basis of extensive reading and collection of literature,a literature review at home and abroad is written,including domestic and foreign studies on the popularization of higher education and domestic and foreign studies on comprehensive universities.Finally,a review and summary are made.For the follow-up research to seek the theory,research methods and innovative points of support.The second part is the meaning of comprehensive university and its position and function in social development.This paper focuses on the concept of comprehensive university accepted by the academic circle,analyzes the characteristics of comprehensive universities and discusses the leading position of comprehensive university in social development and the reality that comprehensive university promotes social and economic development by relying on comprehensive discipline and strong strength.The third part is the basic characteristics of the popularization of higher education.Four characteristics are summarized and put forward,which are closely combined with social and economic development,personalized talent cultivation,more pursuit of fairness than before,classified development and diversified governance trend.The fourth part is the challenges faced by comprehensive universities under the background of universalization.This paper analyzes seven challenges that comprehensive universities in China have to face in this stage,including the challenge of high-quality development,the challenge of diversification of school-running system,the challenge of modernization of development pattern,the challenge of information construction,the challenge of lifelong system construction,the challenge of expanding opening to the outside world and the challenge of characteristic development.The fifth part is the development strategy of comprehensive university to cope with popularization.It is elaborated from the following six aspects : cultivating lifelong learning ability and creating lifelong learning atmosphere;promoting the diversification and modernization of school running system;promoting the transformation of development patterns and leading high-quality development;enhance the level of information construction,enhance technology empowerment;strengthen opening to the outside world and establish a mechanism for coordinating and sharing resources;we will continue to develop with distinctive features and enhance our capacity for independent development.The sixth part is the conclusion.On the basis of summing up the content of the paper,the future development trend of China’s comprehensive universities under the background of universality is prospected.And the deficiencies of this research are explained.
