English reading,no matter at primary and secondary levels, accounts for a large proportion in English learning. For growing pupils, learning to read represents not only an indispensable part of language learning, but also an important factor impacting their all-round development.Along with the continuous advancement of educational reform in recent years, the teaching of English reading has gradually moved from mechanical reading training to student-centered teaching that emphasizes the improvement of students' reading literacy and comprehensively spurs students' interests in reading. However, there are many problems in English reading teaching in many primary schools, such as the low reading efficiency and some other problems.Teachers should focus on how to accumulate students' language knowledge and increase students' comprehensive language abilities, thus they can learn English in a scientific way.In recent years,Guided Learning Plan has been widely used in China, and many schools are using Guided Learning Plan for teaching. In the research on the using of Guided Learning Plan in recent years, the author finds that there is little research on Guided Learning Plan in primary schools. This paper aimed to discuss three questions:(1)What is the influence of the Guided Learning Plan teaching on the reading level of the students in primary schools?(2)What is the influence of Guided Learning Plan teaching on the reading interests of the students in primary schools?(3)What is the students' attitudes towards the Guided Learning Plan? In this research, the author chose two classes of students in a primary school in Chengwu county. The English teacher in the two classes was the same one.The study lasted for three months. Before the study, the author tested the reading level of the two classes and used questionnaires to obtain information about the students' reading interests.During the research, the researcher combined the teaching material, and presents the case in details. At the end of the semester, the researcher used the final exam to measure the reading scores of the two classes, and re-investigated the reading interests. Then the author made a comparative analysis based on the data and information which were obtained at the beginning of the semester. In addition, the author made a questionnaire and an interview to the students in Experimental Class to get the information about the attitudes of the Guided Learning Plan.In this study, the author used SPSS to make independent-sample T test to analyze the results of the reading comprehension tests and the data of questionnaires. In addition, the author conducted interviews with some students to know their attitudes towards the Guided Learning Plan.According to the analysis of the data,it showed that the Guided Learning Plan can effectively improve students' reading levels and reading interests. This kind of teaching method has been recognized by students. This teaching mode enables students to learn English with a more scientific learning attitude and not relying too much on teachers, thus can increase their abilities of solving and analyzing problems. This study is conducive to a deeper understanding of the application of Guided Learning Plan in English reading and promote the transformation of traditional teaching methods. Before teaching, teachers should arrange the content of the Guided Learning Plan scientifically and rationally, and design the teaching activities according to the students learning situation,so as to improve the teaching efficiency. At the same time, students should establish a new concept of English reading and use the reading strategies to maximize the role of Guided Learning Plan.
