Random Segmentation Of Subtitle Text And Research On Sight Translation Quality

Subtitle translation is a common form of translation.Sight interpreting is a method of interpretation,which is rarely used in early subtitle translation.In order to improve the efficiency of subtitle translation,practitioners has combined visual interpretation and subtitle translation together.This method has the advantages of simplicity and translating speed,but special methods are accompanied by special problems.The main problems are caused by the phenomenon of random segmentation of subtitle text.This thesis selected TED speeches as corpus,enumerated typical problems caused by random segmentation of subtitle text,analyzed their impact on sight interpreting,and proposed specific strategies.In sight interpreting activities,interpreters should follow syntactic linearity as the guiding principle.Under the guidance of it,this thesis adopts specific syntactic linearity methods such as addition,abridgement,and prediction to solve the problem of subtitle text segmentation.At the same time,it is also essential for interpreters to improve their proficiency.The purpose of this thesis is to summarize experience,keep up with the development trend of the subtitle translation market,improve work efficiency,and offer help for other interpreters.
