With the accelerating globalization and economic integration, China plays a more and more active role in world affairs. The increasing international exchanges means different forms of interpreting are in desperate need. Sight interpretation, as one of the major modes of interpreting, plays an important role in international conferences. To complete a sight interpretation task, one has to apply many kinds of strategies and skills. The most common used technique for sight interpreting is segmentation and combination. This report, taking the interpreting practice the author made as a trainee interpreter on China International Rubber Industry Expo held by Qingdao Rubber Valley in October 2014 as an example, is going to analyze the application and necessity of using the technique of and combination in sight interpreting. The speeches sight interpreted by the author were made by Dr Lekshmi Nair, Liu mingjun and Deng yali. Four types of sentences which usually are long and complicated, and frequently appear in speeches are mainly discussed here, including attributive clauses, "it" pattern sentences, "there be" pattern sentences and passive sentences. Through the discussion and analysis, this report aims to make contributions to help beginners to improve their information disposal capacity, lighten the burden of memory and deliver a better version in the process of sight interpretation.
