IMF And WBG 2018 And 2019 Fall Annual Meetings Consecutive Interpretation Practice Report

The International Monetary Fund(IMF)and the World Bank Group(WBG)hold annual meetings to discuss issues of common global concern each year.The material selected for this simulated consecutive interpreting is from the speeches of the guests at the 2018 and 2019 autumn annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group.This practice report takes the problems of intensive information in the source language as the starting point,and through the problem response in practice,post-translation reflection,analysis,induction and summary after practice,the author classifies the information-intensive situation in this practice.And the corresponding solutions are put forward.For terminologies and words missing caused by intensive specialized words and parallel phrases respectively,the author adopts the interpretating strategy of conjecture of word meaning and effective use of notes respectively.For the poor structure of the target language caused by the intensive main clause and the dense parallel sentences respectively,the author adopts the interpreting strategy of domestication and reasonable ellipsis respectively.This practice report summarizes the strategies tackling the problems caused by information-intensive in English-Chinese consecutive interpreting in detail,which could not only improve the personal interpretation ability of interpreters,but also be used as a reference for other interpreters to improve the quality and efficiency of consecutive interpretation.
