Hawking plays an important role in the process of communication between buyers and sellers in shopping malls.Hawkers try to attract the attention of the listeners,promote their own sales of goods,services or information to the listeners by hawking to customers and realize the interpersonal function of persuading the listeners to buy.Based on the collected hawking language,the thesis aims to analyze the interpersonal function of Chinese market hawking language by using Halliday's interpersonal function theories and Martin's evaluation system theories to explore how Chinese market hawking language achieves its attraction function,promotion function and persuasion function in the specific communication process and what language resources are used for the realization of the three functions? The thesis shows that the attraction function,promotion function and persuasion function of Chinese market hawking language are mainly realized by a large number of declarative mood,mood adjuncts,appreciation resources and language potential resources.The interrogative mood and imperative mood of the mood system,the evaluation adjuncts of the modal adjunct system,the emotional resources and judgment resources of the attitude system and the focus resources of the grading system also promote the realization of the interpersonal function of hawking language in shopping malls.On the one hand,this thesis reflects the strong applicability of systemic functional grammar in hawking language in Chinese shopping malls and enriches the research scope of functional grammar.On the other hand,it also provides a new perspective for the related research of hawking language in Chinese shopping malls.
