Lessons From The Virtual Classroom (Chapter1-2) English-Chinese Translation Practice Report

This report is based on the translation of chapters 1 and 2 of the pedagogical monograph Lessons from the Virtual Classroom.The book introduces the current situation of online teaching in the 21 st century,and summarizes the problems that teachers will face in online teaching as well as their solutions,so as to provide useful experience and constructive suggestions for the development of online teaching in the future.A review of international and domestic literature is made,and a reasonable plan is drawn up.In the Case Study,the author summarizes the translation strategies on the word,sentence and textual level.On the word level,three strategies were analyzed,i.e.meaning extension,conversion and amplification.On the sentence level,embedding,dividing and recasting were introduced.On the textual level,three strategies,reference reconstruction,substitution,and lexical cohesion were probed into.This translation practice is meant to accumulate materials and experience,and shed some lights on the later translation practice on pedagogical texts.
