The translated text of this report is an excerpt from the second part of the educational book Building Resilience in Children and Teens: Giving Kids Roots and Wings,that is,chapters four to eight.This book highlights the importance of cultivating children's resilience and introduces seven abilities that can help children build their resilience.As an information-functional text,this text has the characteristics of a calling text and focuses on the dissemination of facts.Therefore,the communicative translation theory proposed by Peter Newmark is adopted,which focuses on content rather than form.The text uses plenty of abstract nouns;in order to supplement the theories proposed,a large number of parentheses are adopted;in order to refer to the context and avoid unnecessary repetition,a lot of nominal substitutions are adopted.Therefore,this report will focus on the translation difficulties above and conduct case analysis from the three levels of words,sentences and texts,using semantic extension,amplification and conversion for the translation of abstract nouns;sequential translation,transposition translation,inclusion and bracket translation for parentheses;and omission,reduction,repetition and unification translation for nominal translation.Through this translation practice,the author has accumulated a certain amount of translation experience and hopes to provide a certain reference for the translation of educational texts in the future.
