Research On The Body Language Of Dance Murals In Goguryeo Tombs In Ji'an Area

Koguryo is a national regime which is located within Northeast China and Korean Peninsula in Han and Tang Dynasties of ancient China.The Koguryo Dynasty was founded in the second year of Jianzhao of the Yuan emperor of the Han Dynasty(37 BC),and perished in the first year of Zongzhang of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty(668 AD),which lasted for 705 years.In the heyday of its development,the territory crossed the Liaohe River Basin in the west,Jilin City in the north,Changbai Mountain in the East,bordering on the Sea of Japan,and Hanjiang River Basin on the Korean Peninsula in the south.So far,123 Koguryo Mural Tombs have been found in this area,including 38 in China and 85 in Korea.Among these Koguryo Mural Tombs,only about 20 murals can be identified.These murals were mainly formed in the 4th century to the 6th century.The Koguryo Dynasty moved its capital twice.In AD 3,it moved from Heshenggu city(now near Huanren County)to marudushan city(now in Ji'an City of Jilin Province).In AD 427,it moved its capital to Pyongyang to avoid invasion until its demise.In the 425 years with Ji'an as the capital,Koguryo gradually developed and reached its peak,leaving 36 precious Mural Tombs in this land.The research object of this paper is the dance murals left in Koguryo tombs in Ji'an area.Guided by the theory of dance body linguistics,this paper will study and explain the formation context,intuitive and recognizable dance form,deeper meaning and realistic pragmatic creation conception of dance in Koguryo tomb murals.Dance body linguistics is not only an interdisciplinary theory,but also an applied theory of dance research.It analyzes and studies dance based on body from the perspective of linguistics.Based on semiotics,dance body linguistics holds that dance is an artistic form of human body language symbols,that is,dance expresses and conveys certain meanings.In this paper,it refers to the visible information in the dance murals left in the Koguryo tombs,including gender,number of dancers,dress,dance posture,dance formation and so on.Therefore,this research will describe the language form of Koguryo dance with the help of iconology knowledge.Semantics,that is,the meaning explained by symbols,refers to the meaning expressed by dance in Koguryo tomb dance murals in this paper.The exploration of dance meaning will rely on the findings from the first two parts,as well as ancient literature records,Pragmatics,as an action,refers to the transformation of"knowledge" such as context,form and semantics into practical action.Without pragmatics,dance only stays at the theoretical level and has no practical effect The last part of the paper is the practical conception of the first three parts of "theoretical knowledge".Therefore,with the help of dance body linguistics,iconology,and Philology as the theoretical guidance,this study sorts out,classifies,analyzes and expounds the dance murals of Koguryo tombs in Ji'an area.
