A Study Of Spatial Narratives In David Fincher's Films

Film is a comprehensive art that integrates space art and time art.In the early days,people focused more on the research of film narrative from the perspective of time.Space,as a unique element of film,should be an important link in the discussion of film narrative.David Finch is a director with full personality,with his own unique creative style and ideas.In nearly 30 years of creative career,there have been many high-quality image works,which have influenced a batch of film scholars and creators.His works are different from traditional directors' depictions of characters and descriptions of story contents,but more about exploring human nature,philosophical thinking and cultural implications behind the stories.David Fincher is extremely strict and meticulous in the selection,modeling and setting of film shots and shooting scenes.The processing of these details,the information conveyed by audio-visual elements and the expression of ideas provide us with a brand new perspective and aesthetic enjoyment.David Fincher has his own unique understanding of the choice and use of space.The style and characteristics of his films are largely related to image space.The spatial narration of David Fincher's films is to explore how to select,process and deal with the space,and then promote the story process and narrative meaning.Based on the theory of literary narratology,film narratology and other basic theories,this paper takes David Fincher's 11 films created in his film career as cases to demonstrate and discuss the spatial narrative of David Fincher's films.This paper is divided into three chapters,among which the first chapter summarizes the development of narratology theory and the emphasis on space in the development and change,defines the concept of narrative space in films and the concept of narrative space in films.Secondly,it classifies and summarizes the changes of narrative text and spatial consciousness in the creation of David Fincher's films.The second chapter,through the analysis of the text of David Fincher's films,divides the types of narrative space in the films into urban space,social space and spiritual space.The construction mode and type characteristics of each narrative space are explained.The third chapter,through the analysis of David Fincher's film narrative techniques,summarizes the artistic techniques and functional characteristics of David Fincher's films using space as a narrative technique,and at the same time summarizes the purpose of David Fincher's use of space and the value connotation of the mapping behind the achieved effect.This paper aims to solve the construction method and construction meaning of David Fincher's film narrative space,and explore how the director uses image space to narrate.
