An important step in the reform of English teaching in China's universities is the shift to academic English.However,Japan has accumulated much worthwhile experience in the theory and practice of teaching academic English writing.This translation report is based on Chapter 5 “Increasing Autonomy in learners of EAP writing: An Exploratory Study” of Teaching English for Academic Purposes(EAP)in Japan.In the case study section,two translation methods including contextual analysis,lexical conversion and are used for educational vocabulary;for the translation of passive voice,translator uses “making the passive the main” and “being the same” two effective translation strategies;To ensure the coherence of textual text,for the textual cohesion,the translator uses literal translation,free translation and addition translation to deal with the conjunctions of supplement,transition,cause and effect,and time relationship.The experience summary of the translation practice can be used as a reference for the relevant translation of educational texts,especially the E-C translation practice of academic English teaching texts.
