Most of the researches related to A Cheng are focused on his novels, but seldom on his prose.Compared with novels, prose shortens the distance between readers and authors, and enables readers to have a glimpse of the author's real inner world. Therefore, there is no doubt that it has its own value to read and explore A Cheng's prose carefully. The introduction scrutinizes the research status of A Cheng's novels and proses in different periods. And combined with A Cheng's experience and his creation status,we can divide A cheng's creation into the early and late stages since he went abroad in1987.The early works are mostly novels, and the later works are mostly essays and conversations. On this basis, the basic ideas and research methods are established. The main body is divided into four chapters. The first chapter discusses the reasons why A Cheng turned to prose creation in his later period, from the aspects of A Cheng's survival needs, his own interests, his exhaustion of creative materials, and his dilemma of constantly transcending himself. In addition,in the opinion of the author,it is not that A Cheng did not write novels in his later period, but because of the restriction of the domestic publishing system,he was unwilling to publish or did not publish in China,so readers could not see the publication of A Cheng's novels. The second chapter takes A Cheng's prose as a reference to discuss his view of national culture. The first section explores A Cheng's attitude towards national traditional culture in his late period by comparing the articles related to national traditional culture in his early and late period prose creation.Among them, there are two changes: first, due to going abroad,A Cheng's cosmopolitan vision has increased. It is no longer confined to the adherence of its own traditional culture, but has broken some barriers, increased the acceptance and tolerance of the world culture, and advocated the symbiosis of culture. The other is the attitude towards folk craft, from greatly appreciating folk art as high grade art to appreciating without disturbing the state. The second section focuses on the analysis of the "Venice Diary" in the shuttle between China and Venice, the present and the ancient time between the ink, such cross-region,cross-time association presents the national cultural memory of A Cheng. The third section focuses on the interpretation of A Cheng's views on daily communication of culture, and then makes a comprehensive investigation of A Cheng's cultural view. The third chapter,on the basis of Common Sense and General Knowledge, supplemented by other essays of A Cheng, explains A Cheng's view of common sense from the three aspects of common sense: controlling emotion, getting rid of ignorance and maintaining independent thinking. The fourth chapter discusses the writing of the educated youth in A Cheng based on the relevant novels. This paper is divided into three parts to discuss A Cheng's views on the educated youth, namely,"the educated youth as an individual","nostalgia for the energetic youth" and "reflection on the evil of the educated youth",so as to explore A Cheng's unique thinking on the literature of the educated youth. The conclusion part summarizes the viewpoints of the full text, points out the ideological significance of A Cheng's prose creation, and at the same time reflects on the shortcoming of the topic selection and paper,in order to further improve and perfect.
