With the development of information society and the progress of technology,smartphones have gradually become an indispensable part of college students' daily campus life.College students have become the main users of smartphones.The iterative updating of smartphones not only brings convenience to college students,but also makes them addicted to smartphones because of their unreasonable use,which affects their physical and mental health and daily life.The use of smartphones has become a hot issue in college students' management and mental health work.The purpose of this study is to explore the influence mechanism of sensation seeking on smartphone addiction of college students and to test the mediating effect of self-control and fear of missing out between sensation seeking and smartphone addiction of college students.In study 1,320 college students in Nanjing were surveyed with sensation seeking scale,self-control questionnaire and smartphone addiction scale for college students to test the mediating effect of self-control between sensation seeking and smartphone addiction.On the basis of study 1,study 2 introduced the variable of fear of missing out.The scale used in the first study and fear of missing out scale were used to measure 825 college students to test the chain mediating effect of self-control and fear of missing out between sensation seeking and college students' smartphone addiction.SPSS 21.0 and its plug-in PROCESS were used for analysis.The research results are as follows:(1)There are remarkable gender differences between college students in sensation seeking and smartphone addiction,the level of sensation seeking of boys is higher than that of girls.(2)Significant positive correlations exist between sensation seeking,fear of missing out and smartphone addiction,self-control is negatively correlated with sensation seeking,fear of missing out and smartphone addiction.(3)Sensation seeking and fear of missing out can significantly positively predict college students' smartphone addiction,self-control can negatively predict smartphone addiction of college students.(4)Self-control partially mediates the relationship between sensation seeking and college students' smartphone addiction.(5)Fear of missing out partially mediates the relationship between sensation seeking and college students' smartphone addiction.(6)Self-control and fear of missing out have significant chain mediating effects between sensation seeking and college students' smartphone addiction.From the above results,we can draw the conclusion that sensation seeking can influence college students' smartphone addiction through the chain mediation of selfcontrol and fear of missing out.Sensation seeking affects self-control,then the fear of missing,and finally influence college students' smartphone addiction.What's more,sensation seeking can also influence college students' smartphone addiction through the simple mediation of self-control or fear of missing out.
