At the beginning of the 1950 s,a group of artists appeared. They realized that abstract expressionism, which had a great influence at that time, had a certain narrowness in the definition of art,so they searched for a breakthrough in continuous experiments. In this trend,Lucio Fontana's experiments with "cutting" and "drilling" on canvas marked a break from the traditional form of flat painting. This series of behaviors broke the inherent program of early abstract painting to create visual illusion by using the two-dimensional and flat properties of canvas, and at the same time led to the revolution of modern painting art materials, which promoted the development of western modern art.He became one of the most important Italian artists of the postwar period.Fontana made great achievements in painting, sculpture, installation and architectural design. He was the founder of Spatialism and co-founded the Zero Art group with Yves Klein. His artistic concept also had a profound influence on art in the middle and late 20 th century and the early 21 st century. This paper is the research report of fontana's achievements in the field of painting, reveal the factors affecting the formation of his painting language, analyze the form and concept in his works, and reveal the value and influence of his painting language.Learning from Fontana's artistic concept and formal language will inspire my future creation.
