Learning ability is a very important part of the key competence of English subjects,so English teachers in primary schools should attach importance to the formation of students' learning ability.The design of the overall teaching objectives of the unit is the initial link of the unit's overall teaching,and it plays an important leading role in the unit's overall teaching.The design of the unit's overall goal is one of the ways to implement the cultivation of students' learning ability.Primary school English teachers should pay attention to the unit's overall teaching goal design based on the learning ability.Based on the theory of holistic language teaching,Gestalt psychology,system theory,and behavioral goal theory,taking 102 primary school English teachers in grades three to six in Tianjin and Handan City,Hebei Province as the research objects,mainly through the questionnaires and interviews,the author found the following problems:At the cognitive level,teachers have a shallow understanding of the connotation of learning ability,a one-sided understanding of the design concept of the unit's overall teaching goal,and a weak awareness of the unit's overall teaching goal design based on learning ability.At the design level,the degree of integration between learning ability and goal design is not high,the standardization of goal expression based on learning ability is not good,and the level of goal design based on learning ability is unclear.At the practical level,the design of the unit's overall teaching objectives based on learning ability is not normalized,the guidance of the design of the overall teaching objectives of the unit based on learning ability is insufficient,and the reflection of the design of the overall teaching objectives of the unit based on the learning ability is not enough.Based on the issues mentioned above,the author analyzes the reasons from the perspectives of teachers and schools.Finally,suggestions are also put forward from these two levels.At the teacher level:1.Enhance the awareness of the overall teaching goal design of the unit based on learning ability.2.Integrate learning ability and improve target expression ability.3.Strengthen independent learning and improve theoretical literacy.4.Pay attention to the individual differences of students and promote the development of learning ability.5.Enhance the awareness of reflection and improve the target design.At the school level:1.Reduce the workload of teachers and ensure that they invest time.2.Strengthen relevant training and guidance,and provide reference examples.3.Change the evaluation concept and construct the evaluation supervision system.
