In the process of the eastward shift of the US strategic center of gravity since the 21st century,India has been regarded as an important role in US Asia-Pacific regional policy, and its position in US regional policy has been continuously improved.US-India relations have continued to develop in this process. After Trump took office,he constructed his foreign policy under the slogan of "America First" and successively launched the "Indo-Pacific Strategy" and the "New South Asia Strategy." In its series of official documents and reports,it regards India as an important partner in maintaining the Indo-Pacific order that is in the interests of the United States. The two countries have carried out various degrees of cooperation in politics, economy, national defense and security. In particular, the development of the "2+2 Ministerial Dialogue" has made the relationship between the two parties more mature. However, the different strategic positioning of the two sides,India's independent diplomacy, economic and trade issues have hindered the implementation of the Trump administration's India policy.Under the Trump administration's policy of “America First” and the Modi administration's economic and trade protectionism, new characteristics have emerged in the process of US-India relations. The two sides have a clear transactional color in the exchange process, and the influence of the Chinese factor is prominent. This is mainly reflected in the rapid development of cooperation between the two sides in areas of common interest, but they have not made greater regress to reach cooperation in areas where the two sides have differences. After Biden takes office,in the context of the new crown epidemic,US-India relations will continue to develop in a positive direction. The two sides will continue to strengthen cooperation in the traditional energy field, national defense and security field, economy under the epidemic, and basic medical care.A formal alliance will be reached.
