In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, there were several mass movements in China, and different movements had different purposes and meanings.Egypt announced the nationalization of the Suez Canal, which was originally a just act,but it was interfered by Britain and France. In order to fight back against Egypt,Britain and France joined Israel to launch an armed invasion against Egypt. In response to this international event,China chose to support Egypt, and carried out social mobilization and launched a massive mass movement.China's support had not only deepened the friendship between China and Egypt, but also demonstrated to the world that China has always protested imperialist aggression and pursued peace.Through the analysis of the decision-making background,we can understand the Chinese leaders' considerations and policies on the Suez Canal crisis.Through analyzing the process of the mass movement,it is concluded that this mass movement has four characteristics: various ways of mass movement;wide source of the participants;the use of grievance method in mobilizing the masses;the outstanding work of religious organizations. The main reasons for the mass movement around the Suez Canal crisis are: the successful experience of the Chinese Communist Party's mass movement;the Chinese government's multiple goals in the Suez Canal crisis;the transformation of China's foreign strategic thinking;China's “non-interference” diplomatic thinking.China had to oppose U.S.imperialism and maintain its international image of peace, which pushed the Chinese government chose to carry out mass movements to support Egypt during the Suez Canal crisis.
