The Russian-Vietnamese relationship was developed on the basis of the partnership between the Soviet Union and Vietnam during the Cold War.Since Putin came to power,Russia and Vietnam have established a comprehensive strategic partnership out of appeals to each other's interests, and have achieved certain results in political, economic and trade, military, and cultural fields. The two sides have maintained a high degree of mutual trust politically, economic and trade cooperation has gradually advanced, military cooperation has been strengthened, and cultural exchanges have been continuously expanded. At the same time, some problems arose during the exchanges between the two countries. The scale of economic cooperation is relatively low,the cooperation process is slow, and the crisis of confidence in military cooperation restricts the development of relations between the two countries. The two major powers of China and the United States have also had a certain impact on Russia-Vietnam relations.Out of common strategic considerations and the existing points of convergence in foreign policies,Russia-Vietnam relations will continue to maintain a stable development trend in the future. The focus of cooperation will be on the energy and military fields.Cooperation under the framework of trade zone agreements.
