| The junior high school stage was a crucial period for adolescent physical and mental development,in which stage peer relationship has gradually become one of the main contents of their interpersonal relationship. Some studies have found that the poor peer relationship of junior high school students will have a negative impact on their emotions, which will make them have a negative attitude towards the school.Thereby reducing their enthusiasm for investing in learning activities in schools; In addition, negative peer relationships will allow them to form a lower self-evaluation,and this negative evaluation will also reduce their investment in learning activities. Therefore, this study mainly explored the relationship between peer rejection and junior high school students’ academic engagement, and explored the mediating role of school attitude and academic self-evaluation in order to improve the junior high school students’ peer relationship, establish a positive school attitude, and enhance students’ academic self-evaluation.To provide a theoretical basis for improving the academic input level of junior high school students. In this study,a peer nomination questionnaire,a school attitude questionnaire,an academic self-evaluation questionnaire, and a learning input scale were used to investigate 836 adolescents in a city junior high school and two township junior high schools in Zhangqiu District of Jinan City, and their peer rejection, school attitude, academic self-evaluation and academic engagement status and related relationships was investigated,as well as the mediating role of school attitude and academic self-evaluation in peer rejection and academic engagement, using analysis of variance, correlation analysis and structural equation model to analyze the collected data,The main findings were as follows:(1)The results of the difference analysis have shown that the junior high school students’ peer rejection have significant gender and urban-rural differences,in which the boys’ peer rejection was higher than girls’,and the rural junior high school students’ peer rejection was higher than the urban junior high school students;the boys’ school avoidance was significantly higher than girls’,and girls’ schools liking was significantly higher than boys’,the school attitude was not significantly different in urban-rural contrast;the level of academic self-evaluation of boys was significantly higher than that of girls, and the level of academic self-evaluation of urban students was significantly higher than that of rural students;the gender differences in academic engagement levels were significant, and girls’ academic engagement level was significantly higher than that of boys, and the urban-rural difference in academic engagement was not significant.(2)The results of relevant analysis have shown that there is a correlation between junior high school peer rejection, school attitude(school avoidance and school liking),academic self-evaluation and academic engagement.Among them, junior high school students’ academic engagement was negatively related to peer rejection and school avoidance; It was positively related to academic self-evaluation.(3)The structural equation model analysis results have shown that the attitude of junior high school students has a significant intermediary role in peer rejection and academic engagement;academic self-evaluation does not have significant mediating effect in the relationship between peer rejection and academic engagement;the chain mediation role of school attitude and academic self-evaluation was significant, that is,peer rejection can influence academic self-evaluation through school attitude, which in turn affects academic engagement. |
