As information technology changes by leaps and bounds,the time has raised higher requirement on talent quality,which requires people to possess higher-order thinking skills such as analysis,evaluation and creation.Under this situation,cultivating students' higher-order thinking skills has become an important subject for educational reform and research throughout the world.High school is a critical period for the development of higher-order thinking.Students urgently need to improve their thinking skills.Thus,cultivating students' higher-order thinking skills is of practical significance for personal development and social progress.High school Chinese reading teaching is closely related to thinking cultivation and plays a significant role in cultivating students' higher-order thinking skills as a means to cultivate talents.In addition,Regular High School Chinese Curriculum Standard(2017)implicitly contains the content of cultivating higher-order thinking skills in discipline core competencies and curriculum objectives,which fully reflects the necessity and feasibility for cultivating higher-order thinking skills in high school Chinese reading teaching.Yanbian No.2 Middle School situated in Yanbian Prefecture is a provincial-level key high school.This school witnesses impressive teaching achievements and prioritizes the cultivation of students'thinking skills in Chinese reading teaching.This thesis takes Yanbian No.2 Middle School as the survey object,and conducts a questionnaire survey on 630 students and 20 Chinese teachers.Meanwhile,the author adopts literature review method,interview method,and observation method to investigate the current status of the cultivation of students'higher-order thinking skills through Chinese reading teaching,analyzes the effects and problems in the cultivation of students' higher-order thinking skills,and proposes targeted improvement countermeasures.This thesis falls into five chapters.Chapter One is the introduction.It mainly covers proposition of the research issue and research objectives and significance for the cultivation of students' higher-order thinking skills in high school Chinese reading teaching,domestic and overseas relevant research status,research scope,adopted research methods,and definition of major concepts.Chapter Two introduces the policy basis,curriculum standard basis,and theoretical basis for the cultivation of students' higher-order thinking skills in high school Chinese reading teaching.Chapter Three investigates the current status on the cultivation of students' higher-order thinking skills in the Chinese reading teaching of Yanbian No.2 Middle School mainly from the two aspects of teachers and students.Chapter Four discusses the achievement and problems in the cultivation of students' higher-order thinking skills in the Chinese reading teaching of Yanbian No.2 Middle School.In terms of achievement,the teacher has made use of mind mapping and created reading classrooms of higher-order learning.Besides,the teacher has set reading problem chain and generated the teaching paradigm for cultivating higher-order thinking.Also,students' analytical thinking skills and evaluation thinking skills for rational argument have been strengthened.Regarding problems,the creative thinking value of teaching texts has not been fully utilized,higher-order learning activities lack diversified forms,and inadequate attention is paid to the evaluation of higher-order thinking skills.Besides,student' problems include imbalanced development in the dimensions for higher-order thinking,serious thinking stereotype,and the lack of knowledge reserve.Chapter Five targets the problems existing in the cultivation of students' higher-order thinking skills in the Chinese reading teaching of Yanbian No.2 Middle School and offers optimization suggestions from the two aspects of teachers and students so that Yanbian No.2 Middle School can effectively cultivate students' higher-order thinking skills in Chinese reading teaching.For teachers,the thesis suggests that teachers should explore textual content that can cultivate creative thinking ability,enrich classroom activities targeting higher-order thinking skills,and perfect the evaluation section for the cultivation of higher-order thinking skills.For students,the thesis suggests that students should balance thinking dimensions to strengthen innovation awareness,change their thinking habits,think out of the box,do extensive after-class reading,and enrich knowledge reserve.
