Since "reading the entire book" was clearly pointed out in "Chinese Curriculum Standards for Secondary Schools"(draft)set down by Ye Shengtao in 1948,up to decades of theoretical exploration in the academia has been launched.Since the beginning of the 21st century,some scholars have carried out practical researches on the teaching and studying of reading entire books,mostly concentrated in primary schools.In 2017,a new version of National Chinese Curriculum Standards for General High School was released by Ministry of Education,setting "reading and discussing entire books" as the first learning task group.Since then,Chinese teachers and academic staff in secondary schools have strengthened the exploration of the teaching and studying of reading entire books.This paper sets foot in the needs of the teaching objects and criteria of curricula,chooses the junior high school stage uncovered by most researches,and studies "Water Margin" among the bibliography of classics in the first volume of Chinese textbook of compulsory education compiled by Ministry of Education for Grade Nine,in hopes of constructing a set of comparatively complete teaching procedures for the reading education based on entire books,and offer more experience for reference through specific reflection and cases of teaching.The whole paper is made up of seven parts:"Introduction",five chapters in "Main Body" and "Conclusion".In "Introduction",the origin and significance of practical researches on the teaching of reading based on entire books are expounded in the first place,followed by a summary of the current research condition.In addition,plans to implement teaching of reading the entire book of "Water Margin" is designed,making full preparation for the practical research on the teaching of reading entire books.The first chapter is the first link of the practical research on reading the entire book of "Water Margin"覧stimulating interests,combining practical teaching experience to introduce four practical methods of playing audios and videos,hand-written papers,highlights and drama performance,assisted with the examples of classes stimulating interests and reflection.The second chapter is the second link覧reading guidance.First of all,two directions of reading guidance,reading the same type of books and guided reading,are proposed,assisted with two representative examples of guided reaching and reflection.Seizure of Birthday Gift Shipment by Trickery is taken as an exemplary article to guide reading methods,so as to guide the appreciation of the entire book by talking about heroes.The third chapter is the third link覧reading plans,after the length of the entire book and the learning condition of students are analyzed,corresponding reading schedules are set down,meanwhile,corresponding reading questions are set according to students' reading progress in the reading course,with one major question and four secondary questions comprising a weekly question chain,engaging teachers and students'parents,and recording reading with punch cards.The fourth chapter is the fourth link覧communication and presentation.First of all,"1+2" is confirmed as the way of exchanging ideas on and displaying the fruits of reading the entire book.Each student needs to communicate and present one project named菟re-class broadcast" and two optional projects among the six projects of"Reader","Textbook Drama","Mind Mapping","Invitations or Cards for Heroes","Hand-written Papers or Posters" and "Book Recommendation Cards".Warnings on the points for attention in the communication and presentation activity are reminded,assisted with a period of communication and presentation as an example.The fifth chapter is the last link覧evaluation and examination.After expounding the content,subjects and ways of evaluation,specific operation and practices evaluating and assessing the reading of the entire book of "Water Margin" are carried out,including Overall Evaluation and Examination Table,Rating Criterion and Examination Papers.In the summary part,this practical research is generalized from the aspects of teaching effect and pedagogical implications.For students,the effect of teaching is represented in the accomplishment of the teaching objective of "reading the entire book up" and improvement of Chinese attainment.For the teaching process,the procedures of reading entire books are constructed,so as to facilitate the further promotion of teaching based on reading entire books with practical experience.The rewarded pedagogical implications includes:teaching is a dynamic process,teachers need to "have a well-thought-out plan for the entire book",take interpretation of texts as the basis,assisted with exchange activities and combining teaching practices and researches,so as to lay a solid foundation for the future teaching of reading entire books.
