With the promulgation of the International Charter on Geographical Education and the introduction of the core quality of geography,how to improve the core quality of students has become a hot issue in current study.As the embodiment of core quality,the core concept plays a leading role in high school geographical knowledge,which is the skeleton of geographical knowledge.Therefore,this study puts forward "the study of high school core concept teaching based on comprehensive thinking training",and hopes to teach with core concept through the hierarchical relations leaded by core concept,the connotation and extension of geographical concepts and the characteristics of geographical concepts,by which to enhance students' comprehensive thinking,enrich the relative theories of teaching with geographical core concept and provide the majority of first-line geography teachers practical teaching reference in the practice of teaching with geographical core concept.This study takes teaching with geographical core concept of high school geography as the research object,from the point of view of cultivating students' comprehensive thinking of geography,mainly carry out research by literature research method,questionnaire survey method,interview method and educational experiment method.Through the investigation,current teaching method of geography remains some problems such as: some teachers pay insufficient attention to teaching with geographical core concept,teaching and evaluation methods with core concept need to be improved,current level of students' comprehensive thinking qualities are relative low,teachers' method for cultivating students' comprehensive thinking is simple and the teachers' evaluation of comprehensive thinking of students is not comprehensive enough.Based on existing problems in current geography teaching,this study puts forward a core-concept teaching strategy which is improving comprehensive thinking to the characteristics of different geographical concepts.According to the characteristics of the core concept and comprehensive thinking,the core concept teaching mode steps can be divided into six steps:(1)Determine the teaching objectives of core concept-(2)Associate with lives,create situations-(3)Set problems based on the association with space and time/region/element between concepts-(4)Build knowledge system of concept-(5)Relate with practice and application-(6)Summary and improvement.In order to test the effectiveness of teaching with core geographical concept to improve the students' comprehensive thinking,two grade-three classes with similar situation were selected as the object of educational practice.After a month through the test results analysis of the experimental class and the control class,the results of students' answers and level of comprehensive thinking,average score,passing rate,excellent rate and comprehensive thinking level of the experimental class were improved obviously through one-month core concept teaching compared against the score of first monthly examination,before which this class had similar average performance of the geography monthly examination with control class.It shows that the core concept teaching can improve students' comprehensive thinking qualities of geography.The results of this educational practice show that: through the core concept teaching teachers can help students master the geographical knowledge better,form the knowledge network,so as to relate and apply knowledge better and improve comprehensive thinking of geography.
