South Africa has the largest number of Confucius Institutes among African countries.As of now,South Africa has 6 Confucius Institutes and 3 Confucius Classrooms.In March 2015,the South African government formally adopted Chinese as a second foreign language into its national education system;on August 5,2019,the South African government announced that September 7 of each year will be South Africa Chinese Day.The teaching status of Chinese in South Africa is becoming more and more important,and the number of people learning Chinese is increasing day by day.The demand for learning and teaching Chinese in South Africa is becoming stronger and stronger.Hanban of our country sends a large number of Chinese teachers to South Africa every year.We found that the current research on Chinese teaching in South Africa is not comprehensive and complete by consulting relevant literature.There are no scholars involved in the field of teaching Chinese interest classes in South African primary schools.We used the literature analysis method to sort out the teaching status of South African primary schools.Through interviews,questionnaire surveys,and classroom observation methods,we investigated the situation of Chinese interest classes in Good Shepherd Primary School and three other South African primary schools,and found that these four schools have High similarity.Among them,the biggest problem in teaching is that there is no unified Chinese textbook.Teachers' independent selection of Chinese teaching content brings many disadvantages to the Chinese classroom.We conducted a preliminary analysis of teaching design from six aspects of teaching environment,textbooks,course types,teaching objects,teaching needs,selection and application of teaching media,and set teaching goals in four aspects: cognitive field,skill field,emotional field and learning strategies;Using student-centered principles,intuitive principles,fun principles,constructive principles,communicative principles,authenticity principles and diversity principles as teaching principles;Refer to the content of the primary stage of the five textbooks "Chinese Paradise","Chinese Rhythm Conversation","Happy Chinese","Chinese for Children in the World" and "Learn Chinese by Listening to Songs".we designed three Chinese in grades 4-5 and 6 of the Good Shepherd Primary School Class Chinese courses,and put forward relevant teaching reference suggestions for each class.And we selected the content of a specific lesson,and showed the teaching examples of the "Zodiac signs" lesson.Finally,we summarized the "Zodiac signs" class through the teaching log and the teaching reflection method,and combined with our own teaching experience,from the setting of reward methods,the conduct of classroom activities,the introduction of new lessons,the layout of expansion assignments.Several aspects have put forward relevant teaching suggestions for Chinese interest classes in South African primary schools.We hope that this paper can provide a certain reference text for relevant teaching and research,and we hope to make a slight contribution to Chinese teaching in South Africa.
