The Chinese learners show a low age tendency in South Korea. As an elective second language course,Chinese has been a part of South Korean elementary and secondary classes for several years. The collaborative teaching mode, which means the teaching tasks are cooperatively completed by both native-speaking and local teachers,is one of the typical features of second languages teaching in South Korea. However, native Chinese teachers also need to teach independently in the interest-based classes, such as afterschool classes and Chinese clubs. The traditional teaching methods are not in accord with the psychological characteristics and learning needs of the elementary and secondary students.Classroom activities are playing a significant role in Chinese teaching.Taking the interest-based Chinese classes of three local schools in Yeongwol-gun,Gangwon-do,South Korea as an example, with the methods of documents and observation, and on the basis of the theories of classroom activities design, this thesis introduces the procedures of classroom activities and the policies of reward and punishment, lists some representative examples and their meanings through John Dewey?s theory of “Learning by doing”,analyzes the effects through the teacher?s observation and the results of a questionnaire survey, and concludes that:-Teachers should consider these factors during the design and the application of classroom activities: clearness and intelligibility, step by step, fairness and justice, and flexible adaptation.-Classroom activities design should follow the principles of students-centered,purposiveness,interest and safety.
