Reading has always occupied an important position in Chinese learning,and the level of reading directly affects students’ comprehension and expression skills.Reading can improve personality and promote physical and mental development,which has a positive effect on the cultivation of outlook on life and values.The new curriculum standard emphasizes the importance of reading and points out that reading has always occupied an important position in terms of language learning and thought formation.Extracurricular reading is a supplement and extension of in-class reading.It is one of the main ways for junior high school students to broaden their horizons,develop their thinking,improve their personality,and acquire knowledge.It also plays an important role in improving students’ language learning.However,under the current education system,extracurricular reading has not received corresponding attention.Many students read in order to complete the corresponding homework tasks,and do not have a deep understanding of the inner significance of the article.Teachers set up teaching activities in order to allow students to improve their grades,and are indifferent to extracurricular reading.Although quality education has been implemented for many years,this type of problem still exists in most schools.It is necessary to further analyze and solve the problem of not paying attention to extracurricular reading.In accordance with the requirements of the new curriculum reform,the West School of the Second Experimental Middle School of YS City has taken corresponding measures and achieved certain results.In the Chinese reading class,teachers actively communicated with students,and mobilized students’ interest in learning.Students have achieved relatively good results in the Chinese reading module.To the concept of everything for students,we have held many extracurricular reading activities and opened reading exchange courses,aiming to help students enjoy reading,read more good books,and enrich students’ knowledge.The survey was carried out in the West School of the Second Experimental Middle School of YS City.It focused on the four dimensions of school,teachers,students,and parents,and collected relevant data.Through data analysis,we found out the exsiting problems and reasons of the extracurricular reading in the West School of the Second Experimental Middle School of YS.The thesis used questionnaire survey method,interview method and data analysis methodare used in the thesis to study the results and existing problems of the Western School of the Second Experimental Middle School of YS City,and propose corresponding solutions to the problems.thesis is divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly includes the proposal of the problem,the research purpose and significance,the research status,the scope and methods of the research,and the definition of the main concepts.The second part mainly elaborates the basis and significance of the development of extracurricular reading.Discuss based on the clear requirements and suggestions of the new curriculum standard for extracurricular reading,the three dimensions of extracurricular reading can enrich knowledge,enhance expression skills,and develop thinking.The three dimensions of extracurricular reading are expressed.significance.The third part is the investigation and analysis of the current situation of Chinese extracurricular reading in the Western School of the Second Experimental Middle School of YS City,collecting relevant data by means of questionnaire surveys and interviews.Through investigation and evidence collection,it is found that the West School of YS No.2 Experimental Middle School has taken certain measures and achieved by results.Students have a strong interest in reading and their knowledge has been expanded.However,there are still shortcomings.The last part points out the problems existing in schools,teachers,students and parents and gives corresponding suggestions for improvement,aiming to help students better read after class.The problems in extracurricular reading of YS No.2 Experimental Middle School West School are common.It can also provide a certain reference value for junior high schools in YS City that have similar problems,so as to promote students’ reading ability and overall development.It is also the significance of this thesis.
