Experiment teaching is an important part of junior high school's physics teaching,which is an important way to help students transform abstract concepts into concrete phenomena.However,there are some limitations in traditional experimental teaching,such as high cost and low safety.Teachers often teach such kind of experiments by demonstrating experiments or playing videos,which leads to low participation of students.Fortunately,the virtual laboratory can make up for the lack of student's participation in the process of experimental exploration to a certain extent.The experiment of "melting of Hypo" in the second section of Chapter 3 in the eighth grade physics textbook of PEP is an experiment to help students explore the change process of state of matter and master the core concept of melting point.However,the experiment is easily affected by the factors such as the purity of Hypo,the amount of Hypo,uneven heating,and the duration of the experiment,which leads to the experiment cannot achieve the expected effect.Therefore,this paper develops a complete set of virtual laboratory software for "crystal melting"experiment.The laboratory includes four modules:basic knowledge part,experimental instrument assembly part,experimental phenomenon observation part and data recording and analysis part.It helps students experience the whole process of experimental operation and learn the principle and the law of the temperature change of melting processUsing literature research method,this paper combs the domestic and foreign literature on the technology and application of virtual laboratory,summarizes the common development method of virtual laboratory,the combination of virtual laboratory and teaching,and the methods and indicators to evaluate the teaching effect.Before the development of virtual laboratory,the performance requirements of virtual laboratory are analyzed,and the development methods and expected functional modules are determined.In the development process,firstly,the 3DMAX software is used to model the experimental instrument and laboratory environment,and then it is imported into unity3d and added elements such as lighting,camera,sky box,etc.the basic knowledge module of virtual laboratory uses the basic UI for display and interaction,the instrument assembly module uses the ray and collision detection tools in unity3d for development,The instrument assembly module uses the ray and collision detection tools in unity3d to develop.The experimental observation module uses the animation system of unity 3d to control the changes of solid-state sea wave,liquid-state sea wave and thermometer.The data recording and drawing module uses XCharts,an open-source plug-in in unity3d,to draw the line chart of experimental data.In addition,based on the constructivism learning theory,this paper designs a detailed teaching case combined with the operation procedure of BOPPPS teaching model.In the educational practice of virtual laboratory,the application effect of virtual laboratory is evaluated by two forms:Classroom observation and questionnaire survey.The analysis shows that the virtual laboratory applied in junior high school physics experiment teaching can make up for the shortcomings of traditional experiment teaching in a certain extent,and has a certain effect on improving students' learning enthusiasm.The development of the virtual laboratory is an effective integration of information technology and educational theory,which provides experience for the future development and practice of virtual laboratory.
