With the reform of geography curriculum and the promulgation of the new college entrance examination policy,geography has been paid more and more attention,so geography image,which is an important part of geography,has become particularly critical.Cultivating students’ geographical image skills has become one of the focus of geography teaching.Geographic image is an indispensable expression of geography subject.There are a large number of images in almost every chapter of geography textbook.Geographical image and text description are the carrier of geographical information,which are rich in type and unique in advantages.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the application of geographical images in senior high school teaching.Based on the requirements of the new curriculum reform,this paper mainly uses literature research,questionnaire survey,classroom observation and teacher interview to study the application of geographical images in senior high school teaching.Using the literature research method,the geography images in the compulsory one(2019edition)of the senior high school geography textbook are divided into six categories:map,geographical landscape map,geographical map,geographical statistical chart,remote sensing image map and geographical cartoon.By collecting,collating and analyzing the questionnaire survey data of 30 geography teachers and 576 senior high school students using geographical images,it is concluded that there are the following problems in geography image teaching in senior high school: teachers lack the ability to create geographical images;teachers lack innovation in the way of using geographical images teaching;teachers need to improve the effect of using geographical images teaching;students’ geographical image ability is poor and do not form good reading habits;students lack initiative in learning geographical images and obtain geographical images in a single way.Based on my own teaching practice and predecessors’ experience,this paper puts forward strategies to improve the application effect of geographic images from the perspective of teachers and students.For teachers,it is to improve their ability to create geographical images;To improve the teaching ability of teachers’ geographical images;A variety of geographical images are used to stimulate students’ interest in learning;Using real life as the situation to carry out geography image teaching;Implement geography image classification teaching,train students good reading habit.Students: learn to construct mental map;Connecting geographic images to real life and transferring image knowledge.Finally,taking the compulsory course 1(2019 edition)of senior high school geography textbook as an example,this paper formulates the corresponding application strategy for all kinds of geographical images,and makes a better application of geographical images through case analysis of several typical cases.
