Nowadays,along with the great demand for talents with innovative thinking and high-level skills,the American STEM education has entered the public eyes and attracted the attention of educational circles around the world.Judging from the "Compulsory Education Elementary School Science Curriculum Standards" issued by my country in February 2017,this standard is also closely related to STEM education.This is reflected in the fact that the standard divides the curriculum content into four main areas,which "technology and engineering" is the newly added field.The implementation recommendations point out that "advocate interdisciplinary learning methods" and encourage teachers to try to apply STEM education to their own teaching practices in order to cultivate students' innovative ability.In this context,this article combed the domestic and foreign about the STEM education research literature,and combining the elementary school science teaching in our country,based on 5E teaching mode and American eight science and engineering practice from "New Generation Science Education Standards" in 2013,and selected teaching content for teaching design.This paper is divided into the following six parts:The first chapter mainly explains the background of this research,including STEM education is an education concept to cultivate talents in the 21 st century,the importance of science education and STEM education concept as an important scaffold for science education.By analyzing the current research situation of STEM education abroad,it is concluded that the research content of STEM education abroad mainly focuses on the theoretical and practical research of STEM education.By analyzing the current research status of STEM education in China,this paper summarizes the authoritative literature on integrating STEM education into primary science courses,the teaching design of the course "Lever" and the literature on the topic of "trebucheting machine".The second chapter first discusses the theoretical basis of this research,namely constructivism learning theory,pragmatism education theory,multiple intelligences theory and discovery learning theory.At the same time,the related concepts of STEM education are defined so as to understand and apply STEM education concepts more comprehensively.The third chapter mainly elaborates the case design of the integration of STEM education into the science courses of the upper grades of elementary schools,including the overall design concept,emphasizing the concept of highlighting the main status of students,based on real problems or situations,interdisciplinary or disciplinary integration,and emphasizing cooperative inquiry and engineering practice.Specific academic analysis,analysis of teaching objectives,selection of teaching content,teaching process and teaching evaluation design based on the eight major science and engineering practices proposed in the 2013 American "New Generation Science Education Standards" and 5E teaching method.The fourth chapter is mainly based on the research of the first three chapters,and integrates the STEM education concept into the lesson "Lever",and designs and implements this case.Using the four-dimensional target classification method of the new curriculum standard,make the specific teaching target;According to the 5E and eight science and engineering practices,the specific teaching process was presented,and a total of four class hours were implemented.Finally,the whole case implementation process was elaborated and analyzed by combining the study manual and classroom observation.The fifth chapter through the implementation process of this case for classroom observation,analysis of the test records,learning task list and feedback evaluation questionnaire,analyzes the students' questionnaires and interviews of teachers and students recording materials,implementation of the results to the whole case summary,for the future into STEM education scientific teaching to provide the reference and basis.The sixth chapter mainly summarizes the research results of this paper,analyzes the shortcomings,and looks forward to the development trend of STEM education in the future.The results show that through the analysis of the evaluation scale,the team cooperation ability of students is improved in the teaching practice of STEM education.Through the analysis of interviews,we further understand that teachers and students can identify the practical significance of STEM education in science classroom.
