In today’s society,science and technology has become the primary productive force.Science education is the driving force to promote social progress and the key to personal development.The aim of science education is to improve every student’s scientific literacy.Scientific concept is an important part of scientific literacy,so science education should strengthen the study of scientific concept.For primary school students,scientific concept has a strong abstraction,which increases the difficulty of cognitive construction of primary school students.Augmented reality has the characteristics of interaction,real virtual combination,situational and so on,which can help primary school students solve the difficulties in understanding scientific concept.Primary school students’ concentration and stability of attention is poor,the time of focusing on a certain thing or activity is short,they are not good at reasonable distribution of attention in the augmented reality environment,so that their learning experience is limited,it is difficult to effectively play the advantages of augmented reality.Therefore,it is of great significance to provide learning support for students to explore learning in augmented reality environment,help students cross the zone of proximal development and promote the understanding of scientific concepts.This study firstly summarized the research status of the educational application of augmented reality,scientific concept learning and learning scaffolds at home and abroad by reading the literature,and defined the concepts of augmented reality,scientific concept,concept understanding and learning scaffolds.Then,based on the analysis of the characteristics of curriculum learning in the augmented reality environment,this study summarized the cognitive process of science concept learning in the augmented reality environment,and observed the current science classroom in primary schools with the cognitive process of science concept learning as the standard,and found the problems in the science classroom teaching in primary and secondary schools in the augmented reality environment.Then,this study starts with the cognitive process of learning scientific concepts and combines the content and objectives of learning scientific concepts in primary schools to construct a framework of learning scaffolds to promote the understanding of scientific concepts in the augmented reality environment,and expounds the specific application of learning scaffolds according to each stage of the cognitive process.In this study,design-based research was used to evaluate the practical application effect of the designed learning scaffold framework in teaching.Through two rounds of iterative cycles of design and implementation,analysis and evaluation,reflection and modification,a learning scaffold promoting the understanding of scientific concepts in the augmented reality environment was finally constructed.Two research achievements have been achieved in this study,namely,the cognitive process of primary and middle school students’ learning of scientific concepts in the augmented reality environment has been constructed,and the learning scaffolds that promote primary school students’ understanding of scientific concepts in the augmented reality environment have been obtained,including four types of situational scaffolds,movable scaffolds,resource-based scaffolds and evaluation scaffolds.The applied research shows that the learning scaffold designed in this study can support learners to further organize and integrate the perceptual experience gained from the interaction between the body and the environment in the augmented reality environment,and help primary school students’ cognition and understanding of scientific concepts.It is hoped that the research objects will be further expanded in the future research and the continuity of the research will be realized.
