The PISA(Programm for International Student Assessment),a large-scale international assessment project,is different from the traditional reading view,but starts from a new perspective of socio-economic and cultural development.The PISA project believes that "literacy" is a kind of ability,which refers to the ability of students to use their existing knowledge and skills to conduct effective analysis,reasoning and communication when encountering difficulties in various situations.Reading literacy is an important part of PISA.In2018,PISA updated the meaning of reading literacy again,PISA2018 defines reading literacy as an individual's ability to understand,use,evaluate,reflect and participate in texts in order to achieve goals,increase knowledge,develop personal potential,and participate in social activities.To understand whether students can effectively communicate,analyze and reason after receiving systematic school education through the PISA test,and provide support for the reform of education policies.This study is based on the concept of PISA reading literacy,and the research objects are targeted at students in the upper grades of elementary school(fifth and sixth grades),because their reading ability development is relatively stable,and there are many similarities with the15-year-old students selected in the PISA assessment.They are all in the transition period facing graduation,and research on them will help to intervene in advance and formulate countermeasures for the cultivation of reading ability.The thesis is divided into five chapters.The first chapter explains the reason for the topic selection,research purpose and content,research significance and innovation,research ideas and methods,and defines the two core concepts of "Reading Literacy" and "Reading Ability".The second chapter is a literature review.It sorts out the domestic and foreign research on reading literacy,the PISA reading literacy,and reading ability,and summarizes the research on reading literacy and reading ability.The third chapter combines PISA's reading ability requirements,scoring methods and existing related research in my country to formulate a framework for reading ability investigation and research,determine the investigation steps,research objects,and select and compile test tools "Questionnaire on Reading Literacy Related Research of Primary School Students" and "Reading Ability Test Questions",the obtained data was analyzed.Based on the survey results,Chapter Four puts forward the countermeasures for cultivating the reading ability of primary school students from the perspectives of school,family and society.The fifth chapter of the study were summarized,analyzed the deficiency existing in the research,defined the future research directions.
