In the stage of junior middle school,the physical and psychological conditions of students change intensively,and their self-consciousness begin to awaken.This stage is also the important period for students' gender roles socializing,however,gender prejudice is still widespread in real life.As essential medium for students study,Chinese textbooks of junior high school contain a number of literary works which provide rich materials for gender education of students,including gender culture and other educational elements,which will have a subtle impact on gender perspective of students as well.Nonetheless,there is a serious imbalance between male and female images in terms of number and types for current Chinese textbooks of junior high school.Facing the gender problems in Chinese education and putting forward reasonable suggestions are of great significance in enriching and deepening the curriculum reform of secondary Chinese subject and guiding students to establish scientific gender consciousness.This essay consists of five main chapters.Chapter ?:Introduction.This chapter mainly introduces and explains the reasons for choosing the topic of the thesis,scope of the research object and the definition of the concept.In addition,this chapter also combs the current research status at home and abroad,expounds the significance of the research and clarifies the main methods of the research.Chapter ?:A study of the number and types of male images in Chinese textbooks of junior high school published by Ministry of Education.This chapter focuses on the statistics and analysis of the number and types of male images,and summarizes the educational value for junior high school students.Chapter ?:The contrasts between male and female images in Chinese textbooks of junior high school.This chapter mainly compares masculine and feminine images in textbooks according to the number and types,attempts to explore the causes of this phenomenon.Chapter ?:Recommendation for the improvement of education and teaching.This chapter offers some reasonable suggestions for the imbalanced images of male and femal in textbooks from the aspects of teachers,textbook editors,families,students and society.Part ?:Summary of the study.
