With the rapid development of information technology in the 21st century,all kinds of e-games are widely popular among the high school students.Many students spend a lot of energy in games so they become less interested in study and their academic performance decline.Therefore,most of the educators regard games as a"malignant tumor of teenagers"and are afraid of being too late to avoid them.In order to help the children to quit"game addiction",many teachers and parents often take various compulsory measures to depress the students’interest in and curiosity about the games but such practice may arouse some students’"weariness of study"psychology instead so the ideal teaching objectives can be less achieved.In order to solve the teenagers’contradictions between ages and study,"educational games"came into being at the right moment.They are a kind of computer game software with the specific education meaning and can play the certain positive role in cultivating the gamers’knowledge and skills,process and methods,emotional attitude and values.Therefore,in this study,the RPG educational game Journey of Discovery of the Biological World was developed to transfer the students’enthusiasm for the popular e-games to their study,enhance the effectiveness of study while solving the game addiction phenomenon and make the students of Tian Jiabing High School in Binhai New District,Tianjin,achieve the goal of improving both their performance and interest.In the first half of this paper,the theoretical background related to the educational games is introduced by reading the relevant domestic and foreign relevant references and collecting the materials,and in the second half,the achievements of the experimental study are displayed through the game development,educational experiment and later analysis.Through the earlier theoretical study,the writher thinks that in modern education,the educational games indeed can become a good scientific research project,can play a good role in carrying out the information education and improving the students’core quality and are the new technical means to be mastered by the teachers in the future information society.Through the later experimental study,the writer assessed the experimental effect in three aspects including the students’examination performance,their interest in biology and the effect of using the education game with Microsoft Excel and IBM SPSS Statistics22.0 software after summarizing a lot of data by making use of the RPG game Journey of Discovery of the Biological World for assisted teaching in class.According to the data analysis result before and after the experiment,the students in the experimental class of the high school significantly improved their interest in study with the participation of the educational game but the earlier and later interest scores of the students in the control class differed slightly within the same period,proving that comparing with the traditional education form,the educational games indeed achieve good effect in improving the students’interest in study and establishing the students’self-confidence.From the feedback questionnaires handed in by the students after the experiment,most of the students liked and recognized the form of educational games and hoped to be able to continue to use the educational games for study in the future,proving that the educational games have preliminarily achieved the purpose of improving the"weariness of study"phenomenon in the aspect of regulating the students’study emotions.According to another experimental data,the students in the experimental class were improved in the examination performance after participating in the educational game.According to the SPSS analysis result,no significant difference could be formed but combined with the feedback of the scale of interest in studying biology,the educational games still have the better application prospect in improving the academic performance.In general,this study basically achieved the study goals set up in early period but the educational game failed to give play to its due value due to many defects in the implementation of the experiment process.The writer thinks that to maximize the effect of educational game teaching,the teachers and professional game developer shall cooperate to improve the games themselves,and the schools,the parents and even the whole society shall understand and support the application of educational games.The new teaching means such as the educational games can be really developed,and the educational concept of"teaching through lively activities"can be really realized only when the relaxing,open and inclusive social morality and learning atmosphere are maintained.In the end of this paper,the corresponding improvement opinions are proposed from the perspective such as game design and teaching methods,and the possibility of applying the educational games to modern teaching in the future is expected.It is expected that the personalized,interesting,innovative,research-based and value-oriented study mode will be popularized in the stage of high school to consider the balance of students’study interest and performance and achieve the ideal teaching goal of"interest-driven study".
