Sign language is a special language used by people with hearing impairment,and it is an important means of interacting,learning and communicating of hearing-impaired middle school students.In 2018,the List of Common Words of National Common Sign Language was published and promoted as a language specification.Although a great deal of research has been done on sign language and its usage both at home and abroad,it is restricted on the study of sign language grammar,the usage of Chinese Sign Language and the study on the vocabulary and syntax of the national sign language.Up to now,there has been no findings on the application of national sign language of hearing-impaired middle school students.Following the trend of promoting the application of the national sign language in China,this study will focus on the application of the national sign language of hearing-impaired middle school students,find out the problems and causes while using it,and further put forward the countermeasures to improve the effect of it.Underpinned by interview,literature review,specialist consultation and sample surveys,this study formed a good reliability and validity research tool: Questionnaire on the Application of National Sign Language of Hearing-impaired Middle School Students and Table of the Analysis of Course Videos was used to investigate 156 middle school students with hearing impairment from Grade 7 to high school in a school of Si Chuan province.By observing and analyzing the selected course videos,the author found the differences of different factors in the four dimensions of intention,scope,frequency and effect of application,and also gained the results.Through the analysis of the survey results,the author found that the current application of national sign language of middle school students with hearing impairment works effectively,but those students are not willing to do it actively,and the main language of in classis national sign language.The questionnaire survey and classroom observation show that there are differences in the application of hearing-impaired students of different grades in different everyday speech or for different communication object and yet there are no difference in the application of factors such as gender and hearing capacity.The questionnaire also tells that there are differences in the application of national sign language learning under different usage or in different situation.What's more,it also reads the difference of different subjects and contexts through the courses videos.In light of the analysis,the use of national sign language of middle school students with hearing impairment mainly exists in the mixed usage of national sign language and other types of sign language,the limited application time in school.Besides,everyday speech and the learning of national sign language affects the usage of national sign language itself.And the problem also lies in the unstable application of it.The main reasons for the problem are: insufficient awareness of national sign language;Poor learning efficiency;destitute vocabulary of national sign language;Objective causes of students with hearing impairment themselves;Teacher's education and teaching idea and so on.Aiming at solving the problems existing in the national application of hearing-impaired middle school students in order to achieve the purpose of improving the effect of the national sign language for hearing-impaired middle school students,and then to improve the teaching quality of deaf education ultimately,the author proposes to change the teaching concept of teachers and develop bilingual awareness between them.Besides,the author also advocates to strengthen the awareness of students with hearing impairment on the value of national sign language in order to enhance their drive to use it.And also,teachers should make clear the key points of national sign language and improve the efficiency of students' acquisition.Teachers' timely guidance and revision of the language is also indispensable.More over,the author encourages increased assessment of teachers' and students' abilities to use national sign language for advanced application.In addition,incorporating national sign language into the national curriculum system of deaf education to set the scene for families to use this language.To add up with,publishing more vocabulary books on the use of national sign language of more areas and incorporating local sign language vocabulary into national common sign language regularly so as to form a system of regular revision,supplement and announcement of it and accomplishing continuous enrichment of national sign language in consequence.
