Quadratic function is the key and difficult point of middle school mathematics.It is not only the difficult point in the process of students' learning,but also the difficult point in the process of teachers' teaching.Although they have the experience in learning functions before,which laid a foundation for them to learn quadratic function,the limitation of the junior middle school students' thinking development and the abstract content of quadratic function still lead to students' difficulty in understanding quadratic function.Secondly,the quadratic function has a very high position in middle school mathematics.It is not only an important test point for the daily exams,but also a compulsory test point for the senior high school entrance exams.The examination examines students' mastery of quadratic function from various dimensions.Moreover,quadratic function is also the basis for students to learn functions in senior high school.It contains a lot of mathematical thinking methods,which is of great significance to cultivate students' mathematical core literacy.And the related knowledge of quadratic function is widely used in our daily life in architectural design,economic problems,sports,therefore,we think that the content of quadratic function has great significance and influence on students' study and life.We should study it and put forward corresponding teaching strategies according to the concrete situation so that students can master it better.This paper mainly uses the method of literature research,the method of test paper investigation and the method of interview,combining the requirements of the course standard on the part of quadratic function,the arrangement of the teaching materials and the relevant items of quadratic function in the students' previous examination to compile the test paper,based on the suggestions of front-line teachers,the paper was revised and distributed to the students of a public school in Qingpu District,Shanghai,to conduct a test investigation on the content of the quadratic function,and the test paper was collected for data analysis:1.What are the difficulties for ninth graders in learning quadratic functions?2.What teaching strategies can teachers use to improve students' learning of quadratic function?Through the investigation of the students,we find that the students have a good command of the concepts,images and nature of quadratic functions,but they have great difficulty in solving the comprehensive and practical problems of quadratic functions.moreover,the level of students' practical and comprehensive application of the quadratic function is closely related to their mastery of the concepts,images and nature of the quadratic function.By analyzing the reasons of students' difficulty in learning quadratic function,we classify them into the abstraction of quadratic function itself and many reasons of students themselves,and put forward the following teaching strategies: paying attention to the forming process of concept,establishing the positive transfer of quadratic function learning,using mathematical software to help students understand and forming knowledge network with mind map,and the teaching design is made so that the students can better master the content of quadratic function.
