A Qualitative Study Of Mothers' Beliefs About Harshness In Preschoolers

How to balance the severity and love of children has been a problem for parents.In the eyes of parents,severity is also a manifestation of love for children.Different parents have different ways to express their severity.Parents' strict parenting style and behavior are restricted by their strict beliefs.In the process of nurturing children,the mother is an important person in the child's life,and its strict control of the child can have a direct and far-reaching impact on the child's physical and mental development.The research on parental rearing concepts and behaviors at home and abroad has come out in an endless stream,and the study of parents' belief is lagging behind.In view of this,this study is to study the strict beliefs of mothers in order to enrich the related research of parents' beliefs.In this study,the methods of qualitative research were used to interview and record the mothers of 158 Small class of kindergarten in Shanghai.The transcripts of the interviews of 158 mothers were transcribed word by word.This study adopts the analytical method of grounded theory.It has been found that the reasons and situations of mother's severe expression of children are mainly related to children's cognitive development,behavior norms,social skills and self-care problems.We found that most of the reasons and situations that Chinese mothers express to their children are related to other people,and the relationship between people and people,which embodies the strict "relationship" orientation of the mother.At the same time,many mothers will be strict with their children because of their disobedience,showing "autocratic" orientation.Mother's strict ways include three ways: punishment,psychological control and teaching.In the analysis of the mother's severe way of expression,it was found that,unlike previous severe studies,mothers had a lower degree of severity,and many of us considered unsevere ways to be severe in the mother's view.The study also found that the mother's severe and situational characteristics of the child,in different situations and situations,that is,before and after the other person,the mother expresses severe ways and degree.The researchers put forward the following suggestions on the strict way mothers express: first,mothers should avoid the use of small black house,threat and other psychological control methods to protect the development of children's mental health.Two,integrate the concept of "equality" into the practice of parenting,and achieve true "equality" from concept to behavior.Three,weaken the influence of the "relationship" orientation,reduce the attention to the "others",pay more attention to the development of the children's own psychological and externalized behavior,and promote the free development of the children's personality and independence.For different reasons and situations,mothers should learn to adopt different ways of expression to discipline children so as to promote their physical and mental health development.
