The Chinese cultural value embodied in textbooks will directly affect students’attitudes towards Chinese culture.Therefore,the study analyzes and compares the content of the "cultural confidence" in the branched science textbooks of junior high school published by the People’s Education Press,so as to provide suggestions for the compilation and optimization of science textbooks in China,tell Chinese stories and culture well from the textbooks,and promote the value of Chinese culture.First of all,based on domestic and foreign literature,this study constructs a framework of the elements of "cultural confidence" in textbooks,and clarifies the content of "cultural confidence" in textbooks.Secondly,the study constructs the content analysis framework of "cultural confidence" from the four aspects of subject theme,background characteristics,presentation forms and carrier types,and carries out coding and statistical analysis on the content of "cultural confidence" in textbooks based on content analysis method.Finally,the study comprehensively obtains the following four research results:(1)Clarify the constituent elements of "cultural confidence".Science textbooks embody the value of Chinese culture from four aspects:highlighting spiritual pursuit,reflecting aesthetic taste,reflecting scientific and technological civilization and advocating sustainable development,and guide students to form a recognition of Chinese culture.Based on this,the research divides the "cultural confidence" in science textbooks into four dimensions:spiritual pursuit,aesthetic taste,scientific and technological civilization and sustainable development.(2)Reveal the overall characteristics of the content of "cultural confidence" in textbooks.The elements of "cultural confidence" in all dimensions are reflected in the textbook,with emphasis on scientific and technological civilization;On the whole,the content takes into account the past and the present,focusing on the present,but does not have obvious regional characteristics;It is mainly presented in the main text and reading columns,and is mostly represented in the form of text or a combination of pictures and texts,and expressed in the form of examples,which has a good visual and expression effect;Textbooks mostly reflect cultural confidence with excellent works,and various practical activities and characters are also important carriers,but the occurrence rate of female characters is insufficient.(3)Analyze the characteristics of the elements of "cultural confidence" in each dimension.Spiritual pursuit is mainly manifested through character deeds,focusing on reflecting innovative practice,and paying insufficient attention to the sense of cooperation;There are rich artistic creation content and forms in the dimension of aesthetic appeal,but lack of content related to life customs and natural scenery;In the dimension of scientific and technological civilization,the development of industrial technology in China is highlighted,but the material of agricultural technology is slightly insufficient and relatively single;The content of sustainable development mainly reflects ecological civilization,but it is not outstanding in the international perspective and lack of relevant traditional culture.Textbooks need to optimize the deficiencies in each dimension to highlight the value of Chinese culture to the greatest extent.(4)Compare the characteristics of the content of "cultural confidence" in textbooks of various disciplines.The biology textbook has the most content of"cultural confidence",with a variety of reading columns and materials,which reflects the best effect;The physics textbook is the second,which lays emphasis on reflecting the scientific and technological civilization,but the way of expression needs to be further improved;The "cultural confidence" in the chemistry textbook still has much room for improvement,and it is necessary to appropriately supplement the materials of chemistry-related characters and optimize the presentation form.
