In recent years,the comparative study of mathematics teaching materials has been paid more and more attention by educational circles.Through the comparison of teaching materials,it can provide some reference for the compilation of teaching materials in China,and can also apply the characteristics of teaching materials in other countries to the teaching practice of our country.Problem solving,as an important content in teaching materials,is a necessary ability for students.Through the comparative study of mathematics "problem solving" in primary schools between China and the United States,it is found that the writing characteristics of the two versions of teaching materials can better serve the mathematics teaching in primary schools in China.This paper uses three research methods: literature research,content analysis and comparative research to compare the contents of "problem solving" in California edition textbooks and Chinese edition textbooks: first,literature review.By consulting a large number of literature,this paper analyzes the existing related studies and determines the theoretical framework.Second,compare and analyze the content standards of problem solving in the curriculum standards of China and the United States.Third,we compare the arrangement characteristics of problem solving from three aspects: content setting,content distribution and content presentation.Fourth,the problem-solving examples are compared in four aspects: the type of situation,the openness of the problem,the breadth of knowledge and the ideas and methods of problem-solving.Fifth,according to the results of comparative research,this paper puts forward some suggestions for improving the teaching of solving mathematical problems in primary schools.The main conclusions of this study are as follows: first,the problem-solving content standard of American mathematics curriculum standard has the characteristics of detail and concrete.Second,in terms of the characteristics of arrangement,the United States has a special layout design for "problem solving ",the layout is also very reasonable,and the Chinese teaching materials are very rich in language presentation.Third,in the setting of examples,the situation types of "problem solving" in China are more abundant,and the knowledge of problem solving in the United States is wider.The deficiency of this study is that the text is only static analysis,and the teachers and students in the teaching line are not observed and studied,so further thinking and research are needed.
