After entering the new era,teachers and students in cities and towns are gradually changing their teaching styles and learning methods.Therefore,this study takes middle school mathematics teachers and students in Yan ’an area as the investigation objects,and through questionnaires and interviews,understands the current situation of mathematics teachers’ teaching styles in urban and rural middle schools,and makes a comparative study on the formation ways,influencing factors and popularity among students of their teaching styles.In this paper,middle school mathematics teachers’ teaching styles are divided into five categories,which are natural,rational,skillful and humorous.As to the present situation of teaching style,the proportion of mathematics teachers’ teaching styles in urban middle schools is 38.98%,humorous 31.85%,natural 11.04%,rational 10.82% and emotional 7.31%,while the proportion of mathematics teachers’ teaching styles in township middle schools is 37.11%,rational 33.07% and humorous13.01%.In terms of ways to form teaching style,the number of mathematics teachers in urban middle schools formed their own teaching style through theoretical guidance,accounting for 58.06%.Mathematics teachers in township middle schools formed their own teaching style through practice promotion and experience reference,with practice promotion accounting for 46.67% and experience reference accounting for 26.66%.In terms of factors affecting the formation of teaching style,mathematics teachers and students in urban middle schools think that the greatest influence is teachers’ teaching experience,accounting for 39.55%,followed by teachers’ gender,accounting for29.92%,mathematics teachers and students in township middle schools think that the greatest influence is the geographical location of the school,accounting for 42.09%,followed by teachers’ teaching experience,accounting for 24.72%.The popularity of mathematics teachers’ teaching style among students is as follows:humorous type 25.53%,skillful type 35.59%,natural type 9.56%,emotional type 13.08%and rational type 16.24%,while the proportion of township middle schools is rational type 39.47%,skillful type 21.05% and humorous type 26.33%.
