| Teaching style is an effective, constant and stable behavior that a teacher presents during his or her teaching activities, which may last for a long time. It is also the evidence that the teacher is very qualified for the job. People can tell what the style is from some particular aspects such as his or her teaching concepts, the knowledge he or she is majored in, the art of class management, the teaching experiences and strategies, teaching methods and techniques, and also the atmosphere while teaching. What differences my essay is from the other existing theories of teaching styles are that my essay, based on the knowledge of present educational situations of maths teaching on the level of senior high, focuses on researching a senior high math teacher’s teaching style with the intention of doing my part to do some practical work for maths teaching. My research uses narrative research to tell a seize of stories while the teacher teaches his students.During the whole study, I participate in it with him and I also collect some talks, solid materials in order to research carefully. By the teacher ’s narration of his growth as a math teacher and some understandings of the formation of the teaching styles, I am able to present the whole teaching style and some insights of the teacher to you.By analyzing the results of the research, I find that his teaching style is feathered in the following aspects: firstly, he attaches great importance to the students’ taking part in the teaching. Also, with the humorous and effective class management. Thirdly, he is very experienced in teaching all sorts of math problems. Fourthly, he focuses on creating comfortable and active atmosphere in class. and he encourages students especially students below average level and so on. From these aspects, I figure out that the reasons why his teaching style can be formed. I find it closely related to the social activities, his family education, his working environment and his constant life experiences. The research only focuses on one teacher, so it is mostly subjective and we can not sort other teachers teaching styles into the teacher I do research on. However, from the essay, readers can find some tracks of unique, rich and active inner world of some teachers who grew in the 1960 s and also keep pace with the footsteps of modern maths teaching. |
