Historical materials are the main basis for helping people recognize history.In the part of the empirical literacy of historical materials,one of the five core literacy of history discipline,students are required to distinguish historical materials and restore history by historical materials.What's more,in the curriculum standard of history in senior high school(2017 Edition),the course content of the historical elective module II is the study of historical materials,which introduce historical materials and foster students' ability to analyze and interpret historical materials.It is not difficult to see that the importance of historical materials has been continuously strengthened,and the teaching of historical materials has become an indispensable teaching exercise in the current history curriculum.In the teaching of the high school history(including world history and Chinese history),the use of historical materials is mainly that teachers introduce historical materials in the classroom and students answer questions based on historical materials in exercises.However,most of the historical materials used are those recorded in Chinese.Few scholars and teachers can focus on the role and value of English historical materials in high school history.When teaching history related to the world,although Chinese historical materials can reflect historical reality,they lack an understanding of the corresponding historical and cultural background.As one of the important media for carrying and disseminating different historical cultures,English historical materials are an important auxiliary tool for students to learn about the history,culture and way of thinking of other countries and nations.Based on the domestic and foreign research of English historical materials,this article further analyzes the feasibility of teaching English historical materials.According to the questionnaires to teachers and students about English historical materials,the current application of English historical materials in high school history teaching is concluded put forward the principles and implementation strategies for the selection of English historical materials,and carry out a simple teaching design with the "1787 Constitution" as the content.This article is divided into five parts in total.The first part is the introduction,which mainly tell the reasons for selecting the topic of English historical materials teaching,and collect the domestic and foreign research status of the teaching of English historical materials,and clarify the research ideas and methods of the teaching of historical materials.The second part mainly analyses that English historical materials are able to apply to history teaching in senior school.In accordance with the results of the domestic and foreign research,the types of English historical materials are simply categorized.In the light of the results of the questionnaire survey,the principles that should be followed in the selection of English historical materials are given.The third part refers to the application strategy and the analysis of example of English historical materials teaching.According to the efficiency of teaching practice and thinking,the implementation methods are divided into three types:introducing curriculum topics to quickly create situations;combining Chinese and English historical materials to enrich thinking patterns;using English audio and video to aid memory and expand understanding.The fourth part mainly combines the selection principles and implementation strategies of English historical materials put forward in the first three chapters,taking the the establishment of the federal government of the United States as an example for case design.
