"General High School Mathematics Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)" clearly regards probability and statistics as one of the four main lines of high school mathematics curriculum content.At the same time,with the advent of the era of big data,probability and statistics will become essential knowledge for citizens.A comparative study of the "probability and statistics" content in old and new high school textbooks to understand the changes and reasons of the "probability and statistics" content in mathematics textbooks in our country is of great significance to teachers' experience and understanding of curriculum reform and promotion of probability and statistics education and teaching.The research question is: What are the similarities and differences between the new and old high school mathematics textbooks published by the People's Education Press? It further extends to three questions: What are the similarities and differences in the content layout of "Probability and Statistics" in the two editions of high school mathematics textbooks?What are the similarities and differences in the breadth and depth of content? What are the similarities and differences between the sample questions and the difficulty of the exercises?In order to study the above-mentioned problems,firstly,the literature analysis method is adopted to sort out and analyze the existing research,and establish the research framework and coding method.Second,select the "probability and statistics" content in the old and new high school mathematics textbooks of the People's Education Edition as the research object.According to the research framework,use comparative analysis to compare the "probability and statistics" in the old and new high school mathematics textbooks from the two dimensions of content arrangement and textbook difficulty.The relevant content of "Statistics" is encoded.Finally,the consistency check is performed on the encoded data,and the final encoding result is obtained.Quantitative analysis of the coding results of the "Probability and Statistics" content in the old and new high school mathematics textbooks published by the People's Education Edition has led to the following conclusions:(1)From the perspective of content layout,the content of the new version of the textbook "Probability and Statistics" accounts for more compulsory content Larger,more logical knowledge structure.The old textbook pays more attention to the operation and application of the model,while the new textbook pays more attention to the construction of the theoretical system of statistics and probability.(2)From the perspective of the breadth and depth of the content,the new version of the textbook "Probability and Statistics" has a slightly wider content,focusing on the systematicness and completeness of the content.The new version of the textbook also has a greater depth of content,and more knowledge points are presented in the form of analogy induction and deduction.(3)From the perspective of the difficulty of the examples and exercises,in terms of statistical content,the two editions of textbooks have no significant differences in the difficulty levels of the examples.The difficulty of the examples of the new version of the textbook is slightly higher than that of the old textbook;the two editions of the textbook have the difficulty of each exercise There are significant differences in the above,and the difficulty of the exercises in the new textbook is higher than that in the old textbook.In terms of probability content,there is no significant difference in the requirements of examples and the number of knowledge points between the two editions of textbooks,and there are significant differences in the background level.The difficulty of examples in the new textbook is slightly higher than that of the old textbook;There are significant differences in the requirements level,and there is no significant difference in the background and the number of knowledge points.The difficulty of the exercises in the new textbook is higher than that in the old textbook.Based on the research results and conclusions,this paper puts forward the following suggestions:(1)pay attention to the system construction of knowledge theory,experience the logical characteristics of mathematics;(2)enrich the knowledge presentation of probability and statistics,strengthen the analysis of the essence of mathematics;(3)pay attention to the accumulation of experience in basic activities,cultivate students' data analysis literacy;(4)select the problem background to adapt to the times,and promote the all-round development of students.
