A Research On The New Traits Of The “Unexpected Poor”and The Cause Of Their Consumption Views

In 2018,the "unexpected poor" online buzzword suddenly swept across major social networks,and netizens have claimed this title,all saying that their desire to consume has seriously exceeded their income level.This term is popular because it accurately pokes the pain points of contemporary young people.However,it is inaccurate to simply attribute the poverty of young people to their intemperate consumption.When the words "unexpected" and "poor people" are combined together,a different kind of cultural semantics is produced.Because this inflated desire for shopping is a product of modern society.There may be some deeper reasons behind the keen on consumption of the "unexpected poor".A hot word often contains important social and psychological information.As a result,the phenomenon of "inconspicuous poverty" is worthy of careful study.This study intends to select nine target samples and adopt in-depth interviews to study the living conditions and new traits of the "unexpected poor" and focus on the causes of their consumption views.Guided by consumerism theory,social system theory,and symbol interaction theory,this article uses the literature method and interview method to conduct interviews and analysis on nine “unexpected poor”young people.The interview found that the new characteristics of urban "unexpected poor" mainly includes the following four points: First,excessive consumption leads to "de facto poverty".Second,conspicuous consumption coexists with low-end consumption.Third,being keen on lazy consumption.Fourth,there is widespread anxiety.Based on the above analysis,the researchers have come to the contributing factor of the “unexpected poor”consumption outlook.From the individual level,consumption is only a kind of self-consolation that cannot control life;an illusion caused by the white-collar working environment;they belong to a generation that has never experienced poverty;lacking of financial and business education,and unable to consume rationally;longing for recognition;From the social level expanding domestic demand has become the main theme of national development;cities make everything possible;the dissolution of traditional family life concepts;the Internet puts people in information cocoons;the prevalence of consumerism;it can be seen that the active label of "inconspicuous poverty" not only reflects the irrational consumption outlook of the new generation of young people,but it also implies a series of difficulties and challenges faced by urban youths in order to integrate into urban life.
